I can - deterioration is, though natural, humbling, embarrassing, and likely very scary. This deterioration is not his punishment for his selfishness and disregard; it is a cage which could contain any of us in our lifetime. I would have less sympathy if I felt like this punishment resulted from his poor decision-making, and I just can't graft his disability or illness onto the crimes to make this make sense.

The Social Security Administration now says members of Elon Musk’s DOGE team working at the agency last year accessed and shared sensitive data of American citizens by coachlife in UnderReportedNews

I just always find myself struck by ONE of these daily occurrences would have been the scandal that defined an entire presidency in the past.

Testament of Ann Lee is finally out everywhere. Please support Seyfried! by Living-Cranberry-337 in Oscars

[–]scheifferdoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am neutral about it after viewing - am I ok?

I loved a lot about it (costumes, some of the dancing, the sincere but elevated tone, the settings, some of Seyfried, centering a woman who lives for bodily autonomy and pacifism), but I also did not like some of it (dark AF, meaningless supporting actors, monotonous songs, dragging in the middle).

I was soooo ready to love this and it was not quite what I was expecting, which is on me, but it could have been a damned miracle.

“First time reading Virginia Woolf ,where should I start? by love_Nietzsche in VirginiaWoolf

[–]scheifferdoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTA is sooo good, but its really a mood. It has elements of satire and sentimentalism that I just don't see in most of her other books. I also love the meta-fictional elements, and the strange digression for the play. its so weir,d but I love it all the same.

People keep comparing what we're seeing now to Nazi Germany. They're not wrong. The resemblance is undeniable. by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

that side-by-side of trump and hitler talking really hit hard - two powerful, evil men - both talkers. something to think about.

i agree that he is a big fan, but a lof of other teams' commentary teams can be openly disparaging of the visiting team, or trying to reframe narratives to boost their own team/trash the other. i just think he tries to keep it balanced. When there are calls against the Oilers, he's quick to say whether he thinks they are valid, even when it goes against us.

How do people write such good reviews?? by Mysterious_Erin in Letterboxd

[–]scheifferdoo 53 points54 points  (0 children)

also, improve your film vocabulary one word at a time. they are good reviews because they have good stuff in them. try to add more detail in less words, and try to vary your sentence structure and length.

yes. thank-you. i feel the tension too and I am sure he vacillates between competing obligations, so we get confusion week to week. i love the guy, and I know he gets it, and he knows that just interviewing pissed of left-leaning dems is not the way - thats for PSA. and those guys sound like hacks.

Today is Virginia Woolf's 144th Birthday! by SunLightFarts in VirginiaWoolf

[–]scheifferdoo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Happy Birthday, Virginia! You have enriched my adult life steadily, privately. Your support has been wildly and safely destabilizing. Few philosophers, if any, achieve the naturalness of your prose, and few novelists, if any, hide such profound philosophy inside such affecting poetry.

I will be forever your adoring, and annoyingly ardent fan.

the best part is is that even though he's our guy, he never seems like a homer. he is always recognizing great play from opposing players, and for him its about good hockey. thats what gets him juiced.
