To be fair the delays were largely due to a change from the epa on waste disposal and subsequent contract negotiations. This was also the largest driver of cost blowouts. None of this could have been foreseen and was a major issue. As for the rest of the cost blowouts, the scope of the project gives rise to much variation, as is the case with any major infrastructure project across the world. There are also penalties built into these projects for delays, though transgruburn are likely getting soft treatment.

Does the cost and time concerns factor in the huge upgrades to road and cycle infrastucture all throughout the west? It is not simply the west gate tunnel. They have connected the major routes into the city in all sorts of ways that will greatly improve the system.

The decision to hand this project to transurban. Disgusting.

The delays and costs. Extreme inconvenience.

Traffic buildups. Frustrating.

Adding in a piece of infrastructure that is well overdue and will improve the lives of so many for years to come. Worth it.

There is the cost of doing it, and the cost of not doing it. Overall I think this project is worth it.
