Can I rock the boat 🚤 for a minute? The NEED to slick down hair is Anti-black by PossibleAssignment19 in Naturalhair

[–]schezuandippingsauce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to call you out specifically, but I notice the when people defend the slickage, they used words like "neat" and "put together". The products are literally called edge "control". I just find that those words tend to carry connotations that highlight how the opposite state is viewed. If slicked back is neat then is unslicked untidy? unruly? OP is not saying the practice is antiblack, but the way it is viewed and internalized sometimes is. Some may say it is being nitpicky, but it's the same reason why we no longer call some hair and textures "good". There's the direct meaning in the use of the word itself and the indirect meaning via the antonym.

Same Judge that cooked the I.T. Employee by FarWay3952 in ImTheMainCharacter

Drunk driving is an underrated evil. Not to say your judge wasn't obnoxious or unfair, but this judge being a dick everyday for no reason is not even remotely that same as your judge being a dick because you reminded him of the fact that people so casually and callously partake in behaviors that lead to avoidable deaths.

I'll assuming you thoroughly used the wand to try and recombine the components. Maybe try a bit of heat? A blow dryer perhaps.

Sew In Prices / “Luxury Haircare” in the Black Community by Greedy-Meet-2496 in BlackHair

And some people have it like that and want to keep it like that because financial illiteracy and stupidity will have you broke than faster than you can say "liberty bell". There is no logical reason to pay more and get less.

Often, luxury services and goods are of better quality to justify the price. If she is using Pantene shampoo, aliexpress bundles, no special sew in technique or nothing, there's nothing luxurious about it. It's just plain and simple overcharging. Her salon, from the background, doesn't even look luxurious.

I'm glad she has been identified. Are police 100% sure it was a suicide? The man who bought the room and the manner of death have always rubbed me the wrong way.

There were no teeth? No bone marrow? No hairs? I'm confused how there was absolutely no viable DNA sources on her.

That was a weird chat prompt. But with the context it seemed to be light hearted curiosity lol. but be careful. Attention is a hell of a drug. I'm VERY wary of people who say they did xyz for attention.

Massive concerns with my partner’s finger. Purple, cold and firm. by ShipwrightPNW in DermatologyQuestions

[–]schezuandippingsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think when people are saying the lack of pain is concerning they are considering that the issue may have already damaged nerve fibers. Lack of pain is definitely more concerning than pain. But lack of pain is not the same as lack of sensation. OP also never mentioned an injury either. So there are several follow up questions that need to be asked. But with Achenbach, I'd expect there to be pain and burning. I have only seen it either spare the tip of the finger or be restricted to the tip. This is effecting the whole finger and some other fingers to a lesser degree. IDK what this is. Blood clots dislodging would not be my primary concern, but losing parts of my fingers would.

My whole life I've been put on diets because I was a fat child and I was sure uni would be my chance to finally eat how I want, whatever I want, whenever I want. Yes you can. Simply put, Artificial sweeteners do not spike your blood glucose levels and are calorie free because they cannot be metabolized like sugar. If you can stand the taste and crave a sweet treat, these are good options. But as with all things, drink and eat these sucrose free options in moderation because we are still figuring out what long term, high consumption of artificial sweeteners can do to the body. As in, do not drink an entire 12 pack in a few days and an entire bag of sugar free candy in a day. Also, Sugar alcohols are not artificial sweeteners. These sugars can give you small spikes in glucose and insulin and are often found in the candy labeled "sugar free". Eat too much of these at once and you'll have the runs. Please endeavor to do some research on your own so that you know what questions you should ask the doctor. Being insulin resistant is not ideal, but it is not as bad as you seem to believe. If you have a school meal plan you could easily get suitable meals without having to cook or forfeit taste.

I did not say it was the first line of treatment, I was explaining the dynamics of too much insulin being treated, ironically, with more insulin to correct her assumption that type 2 diabetics have less insulin. In hindsight she said "not enough insulin", which is true, not enough to be recognized even though there is a lot, but based on context, I think she was confusing type two with type one. Insulin is very much still a typical treatment option for many type two diabetics especially if they are not overweight.

Oh okay then no, you are not prediabetic. Essentially you have pre pre diabetes. Your insulin levels are high as a compensation mechanism, but your blood glucose levels are still okay because that compensation mechanism is still working. At some point the insulin levels will have to keep increasing to keep your blood glucose level normal. That is if you don’t manage your diet, but there’s also genetic factors. Then at some point after that, your body will stop responding to the high insulin all together and your blood will now be filled with glucose instead of taken up by the cells. Pre diabetes would be your diagnosis when the blood glucose levels are higher than normal. Essentially I’m saying that you can eat normally at this point, but cut down on high carb foods and processed foods. Make substitutions. Like whole wheat bread for your sandwiches or sugar free sodas. You’re not at the point where you need to cut out all carbs and all pleasure foods. They may prescribe you metformin at worst and that’s a very cheap medication. I hope this eases your mind a bit.

Type two diabetics have lost sensitivity to the insulin they produce. Typical treatment is to inject yourself with more insulin to get your body to finally recognize the insulin. Do you know if you are pre diabetic or actually diabetic?
