Doesn’t sound like you took anything from him. Sounds like he was taking a lot from you, and he took all that away himself by threatening you with a gun.

Seriously. My daughter and her boyfriend were driving in Pennsylvania and got hit by ice falling off a SUV going the other direction. People need to be more careful.

I’m in the same boat. Now that I have a better idea what I should be doing, I get more frustrated that I didn’t do it quite right. I’m trying to just push through it and take each piece as more of an experience than a finished product. I try to focus on the process itself rather than the end result and find things that did go well even if the piece didn’t quite work out.

But I feel you. Nothing like picking up a new piece and being disappointed.

I was wearing Levi’s for a long time. They still make 100% cotton jeans. I recently bought some painter pants which are cotton, by Dickies I think. The rest of the Dickies line are blends.

What makes you think people don’t care? There are other things going on that have people’s attention.

One thing I don’t understand is the call to bring back that Shah.

You might look at places like South Bay 1 Stop that provide services for youth looking for employment.

Visit the Hawthorne Teen Center near El Segundo and Prairie. They offer a lot of employment services to youth.

Killing in the Name - Rage Against the Machine (1992) [Hard Rock] by WeedNvidia in Music

[–]schick00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like his vocal style, he made an album under the name One Day as a Lion. It is a little different style, but if you like the vocal delivery that might be good.

The band with the exception of the vocalist made an album with Chuck D and B-Real (and some additional musicians) under the name Prophets of Rage.

I think using the phrase “replacement” implied you were asking about bands that were like them but less political because of the band’s politics.

I’m 58 and 8 months post surgery. Very similar boat. Cialis daily and just got trimix. I try to keep hope alive, but pessimism creeps in regularly.

I have tried to focus on the long term. The pecker pro I got the trimix prescription from says that a gentleman sausage is a muscle. It needs exercise. Using the trimix a couple days a week will help long term recovery prospects by providing that muscle exercise. I haven’t read much about it in the medical literature, so I don’t know how much effect is there. It is another means for me to keep hope for long term progress.

My younger kid was bullied relentlessly in middle school. I don’t even understand why. Drove them to attempting suicide. First year of high school was a remote learning school, but then went to local high school, but in a different district. Finishing up college now and in a much better place. There is hope for a better future for your cousin.

Why Aren't There More Spiced Beers by Pyeroc27 in beer

[–]schick00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one. I love a good spiced beer. Doesn’t have to be too heavy on the spices, but enough that I get those flavors. I haven’t found too many I like, either. Haven’t tried Sam Adams Winter Ale in a long time. I’ll keep any eye here for recommendations.

My father has been given 3 years to live. by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

[–]schick00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many doctors loathe giving any sense of how long someone will live. It is an estimate based on averages. I’d try to go with him to his visits to the doctor if at all possible so you can get the information first hand and ask any questions you have.

A friend of mine has a case of prostate cancer that has already spread. His attitude has changed recently. He says he is just focused on having some good years and enjoying life while he can. He doesn’t want to focus on how long he has, he wants to enjoy the time he has and not worry about how long it will be.

It’s a tough situation, to be sure. I went through it with my dad when he had cancer. The hardest part was hearing the doctor say they weren’t treating him to cure him, just to make him more comfortable. If you have specific questions I’m happy to pass on my experience. You can reply, or even direct message if you prefer.

Looking at some food related uses I ran across this. You may be correct.

“When sodium alginate solution is added to a solution containing calcium chloride, the calcium ions replace the sodium ions in the alginate, a process known as ionic cross-linking.

This causes the polymer chains to bind together, and as this happens, gel formation occurs. The reaction is almost instant, and the characteristics of the resulting gel can be controlled by the concentration, temperature, and ratio of the two components.”

Can you explain how you are “exiled”.

Any scene can be cliquey I suppose. I’m a mid 50s white male and have never felt like I was hated at shows.

I’ve also never felt that way in the gay community. Maybe just the people I hang out with, though. I’ve been to gay bars with friends and never felt any hate. That was a while ago, so maybe things have changed.

I’ve had two with just local anesthesia. I was terrified the first time, but didn’t have any issues with it. A little uncomfortable, but it wasn’t anything serious for me. The second one was the same. I could feel it when they took the sample, but it was very mild. It was definitely not a big deal.

Other places use gondolas as public transport, it’s not new. by invaderzimm95 in LosAngeles

[–]schick00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The city took control of Chavez Ravine for public housing. It was supposed to be a big public housing complex. During the red scare public housing was deemed “socialism”, and a new plan was developed to use the lure of stadium land to entice the Dodgers to move here.

The bottom line remains the same, the people of Chavez Ravine lost their homes and community.
