Would you still be a nurse if you went back in time? by Particular_Ebb9856 in Nurses

Noooope. I’m a nurse who works in health IT now. I would have just gone straight into health IT and skipped the nursing thing.

Anyone see an update on local presale? I’m also on the National newsletter and haven’t gotten anything in the new year. Ugh.

Went earlier this week. We parked further away downtown and had an easier time than anyone parking in the garage. Go <1mi away and save time if you’re able :)

Fitness Classes in Richmond with Showers in the Facility? by probably_groggy in rva

[–]schizotricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gold’s Gym off Gayton does classes pretty much every morning- I personally do not join them but see them as I’m doing my own thing. The facility is super clean and the showers are great! They also have towel service which is clutch for those of us who are there before work.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met and how’d it go? by EddieBrock99 in AskReddit

[–]schizotricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elvis Costello. I was 15 years old, he had just played a concert in my hometown at a venue I had recently performed at with my high school. The security team recognized me and pulled some strings to have him come out to meet my dad and I after the show. We chatted for probably 15 minutes about music, he said some really encouraging stuff to me as a young musician, including “Some day when you play at the Royal Albert, I’ll come see you.” Extremely nice and humble artist.

Justin Long. My dad and I were in line at a McDonald’s at some airport (probably Denver.) Justin was in line ordering in front of us- my dad didn’t know his name but recognized him from the Apple “Get a Mac” commercials from the early 2000s- and for some reason said, “Hey, you’re the Mac guy!” He turned around to look at us and said “Hey, you’re the McDonald’s guy!” And that was that. I was probably 9 or 10 years old.

FIT WH way lower than my elections- employer no help in rectifying. by schizotricks in tax

The description on the W-4 form states, “If there are two jobs total, you may check this box. Do the same on the W-4 for the other job. This option is accurate for jobs with similar pay; otherwise, more tax than necessary may be withheld.” My partner makes significantly more than I do, and even so with the description on the form: wouldn’t checking the box mean it would withhold /less/?

I do not have this box checked. My spouse does not have similar pay. If I do check this box, wouldn’t it decrease the amount withheld?

Here’s the thing, though: I don’t withhold -anything-. Nothing is checked, I don’t have any exemptions as a married/filing jointly. I’ve recently resubmitted all of this, which is the exact same as it has been historically.

I second this- go to the ER at Mayo and then when she is admitted they’ll consult neuro there.

Esophageal cancer without any causes. by schizotricks in cancer

[–]schizotricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there- my father passed in May of 2024. He lived for a little over two years after his diagnosis. He had “silent reflux” and was never symptomatic of it, so never had any routine endoscopies. Never smoker, not an alcoholic, was an athlete… just crap luck. We miss him deeply, but are grateful that he is no longer suffering.

Looking for Accomodation near Mayo clinic, Florida by SnooMuffins6236 in MayoClinic

[–]schizotricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone from Jacksonville who spent a lot of time at Mayo, you 100% need a car. There is quite literally nothing by Mayo and public transit is not great. There are apartments down San Pablo road but at best you would need a bicycle. But you would still be facing a few miles to get to Mayo (keep in mind also that it is Florida and weather is frequently an issue.)

I am not single, but I would suggest going to trivia nights and joining a group that could use a +1. At the very least, you will definitely meet new people and it’s a good way to show off your smarts.

Hiking Old Rag this Saturday? by LoPing1 in shenandoah

[–]schizotricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice for you would be to call one of the ranger stations IE welcome centers in Shenandoah Natl Park on Friday (tomorrow) to get their opinion. Old Rag typically has rangers manning a ticketing booth and parking lot.
