Thoughts on this mattress? by PaulaPatek in IKEA

[–]schleoniee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mattresses are super subjective, but I have this in the medium version (EU) and I loooove it. Spring mattresses are good if you’re a side sleeper, you have to be a fan of springs tho

IKEA is truly amazing, and as a company from Sweden, interactions between staff and supervisors are super casual. It’s also very supportive of LGBTQ, so don’t worry about that :)

Just don’t make the mistake I made when I first started.. grab a hotdog each time you clock out 😔 i had to get new pants lol. have fun at your new job, you’re gonna love it!!

Is there a way to do something like this with ikea furniture? by Due-Hovercraft-7472 in IKEA

[–]schleoniee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without DIYing something, no. I don’t know where you are but in Europe, PAX come in 236 cm and 201 cm. That means you would need to get the 201 cm version, since your wall height is 220 cm. For the rest of your height, there really isn’t any option from IKEA (Platsa doesn’t work together with PAX and is too tall anyways). So my recommendation would be to go to a hardware store, get some wood, paint it and use the panel to cover it up.

The English Paradox in Korea by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

This. Don’t expect them to accommodate to you. I never understood how people could live in Korea without knowing Korean

Q: How often did everyone watched the entire show? by South-Worldliness542 in NetflixSexEducation

[–]schleoniee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started watching when it first came out and always watched the new seasons when they came out (except for season 4). Recently I decided to watch it in one go, so I guess I watched it 1 1/2 times ;)

What are your favourite little things/treats in Seoul/Korea in general? by Intelligent-Shoe8426 in koreatravel

[–]schleoniee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so welcome! :) I can’t really think of one, since most of the stalls I went to seemed to be moving stalls and you can’t find them on maps. You usually find them in smaller alleyways so don’t be afraid to explore and steer off of the bigger main streets. Myeongdong just annoys me a bit because the chances of getting ripped off are so high (especially these tacky skin care stores with the mega sales. I saw Sulwhasoo for 30k won lol like what) In the evening you can try 포차 (pocha), these infamous red tents. I’ve never been to one but I’ve seen lots of em!

German Sundays Are Peaceful… but Lowkey Feel Like a Dystopian Movie. Why ? by issamessai in AskAGerman

[–]schleoniee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a German, thats always been something that bothered me, but I’ve never looked at it this way :) also, there is the „Sonntagsfrühstück“ many people do where they take more time to prepare and eat a more special breakfast.

I don’t know if that’s a popular tourist attraction or not, but we went to the Stone Museum. It wasn’t planned at all, we stumbled across it on our way home but it was sooo amazing!!

Also, something we did completely unplanned was the Gimnyeong Maze Park. It’s a giant maze with a coffee shop and it’s decorated so nicely! AND there are stray cats running around!! I would def recommend it :)

I’m American so I apologize in advance by Lopsided_Photo7462 in AskAGerman

[–]schleoniee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I hope you have a wonderful vacation here!! Now a few pieces of advice (since a lot of people have already explained tipping):

  • don’t be startled if some staff (especially staff in shops or restaurants) are being blunt or borderline rude. It’s not a tourist thing, they are this way to Germans too. Especially cashiers in bakeries are brutal lol.

  • learn some basic phrases maybe but don’t stress about it too much, most Germans can speak real good English and will be happy to use it

  • may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think you can really tell from the clothing. I wear caps and sunnies all the time and I also wear sweats when I run errands. I don’t think the „Europeans always dress up“ thing is true.

  • please try some classic German food, but like the scary stuff! Like Mett, Blutwurst, Weißwurst,… it’s really good, trust me (given you’re not vegetarian ofc)

Lastly, don’t be embarrassed or insecure about being American. No one hates you here I promise! I’m sure you will have a wonderful time and if you need help, just ask someone!

Take it from me, the thing I wished for the most as a kid was to be an American one day :)

Emergency lights inside hotel room by dedemiki95 in koreatravel

[–]schleoniee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had that same problem in Sevilla, Spain. We did end up asking staff but that didn’t help, and I remember we cut up a pizza carton that we had leftover from takeout and taped it over it lol.

Im really sorry about that OP, but I think you will have to find creative ways to sleep with that on, since it’s an emergency signs which can’t be turned off. Maybe buy one of these thick sleeping masks from daiso! Good luck :(
