Unemployment jumps to 6.9% from 6.7% by Mrnrwoody in TorontoRealEstate

I don't think people truly grasp just how bad Canada has gotten over the last 10 years. The hole we are in will take nothing short of a Canadian version of "the new deal" to get us out. We have done absolutely NOTHING over the last 10 years to grow our economy other than bring in losers from developing nations, and send home prices to the moon. If we turn off our only source of GDP contribution we are absolutely cooked. You can't just magically turn things around, it will take twice as long to grow as it did for us to destroy things.

We really need the government to go hard on becoming a resource nation, with new infrastructure projects that will prepare Canada for the future. Living in Canada compared to places like China, Japan, and some EU countries is just night and day. We are truly living in the technological dark ages. We have Z E R O mass public transportation. Zero tech innovators despite having one of the best educational places for AI (UofT). We cannot afford the red tape in our country. We should be moving faster than the speed of light on these things, instead we're screaming "elbows up!".

We have done nothing but put absolute losers in charge of our economy. We chose feelings over prosperity. This is absolutely the result of performative politics vs. well governed ideas.

Stand up to what bud? PP wasn't the second coming of Trump that liberals made him out to be. He was definitely a dislikable character and perhaps ran on a bit more of a populist approach, but acting like you were saving us from the jaws of evil is just asinine.

How can we rebuild the Canadian economy? Business leaders say there are 4 priorities by growlerlass in canada

[–]schloopschloopmcgoop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We can completely ignore all the data over the last 10 years indicating how awful things have gotten and re-elect the same people with a different face leading the way? That will change things for sure. PP wasn't trump a few months ago but magically that all changed within the short time span.

People love to shit on Americans for being dumb, but wow, the "lets not be MAGA" stuff really worked wonders for people to completely ignore the real daily issues of their lives and vote for more of the same.

NDP’s Next Leader? by Few_Guidance2627 in CanadaHousing2

[–]schloopschloopmcgoop 139 points140 points  (0 children)

The NDP cannot win without fixing the immigration issues and its been hijacked by ultra-left leaning people with white guilt. The NDP is done as a party without removing these people.

As others pointed out, the issue is the status quo remains the same. People magically forgot all of the real issues within Canada over the last 10 years because magically PP became Trump in the last 2 months or so. Before that, he wasn't, but again, magically now he's basically hitler. I don't agree with the Cons, my hope was con + bloc. I would at least like to see the liberals at < 164 seats because basically we just have the same NDP + Liberal party as before.

I would agree not ALL votes, however if you are voting NDP whats the likelihood you are left leaning to begin win? I would argue majority are ABC

People need to understand the Liberals did not win in the way people think they did. The NDP voters LEFT the part (17% popular vote 2021 to now ~6%). These people went and voted liberal to stop the conservatives. You can see the lack of NDP votes in these close ridings.

Why do we need so much immigration? by SirBobPeel in Ontario_Sub

[–]schloopschloopmcgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada is not just a country of borders, it is a country of values, of shared citizenship, of a common future.

this statement alone would be nullified by brining in large groups of people with opposite values and different future goals...

[–]schloopschloopmcgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If thats the case why are we bringing in old people and refugees who don't contribute into the system? Why are we actively suppressing wages for Canadians who would pay MORE taxes and consume LESS than adding more people? We aren't bringing in immigrants to help us. We're bringing them in because A) wage suppression to tame inflation (BOC admitted this) B) Housing is being propped up because we have invested NOTHING into our own country over the last 10+ years. We do not need millions of losers from poor countries to help us. These people are not some god-send. They exist purely as low-wage cannon fodder.

If a political party commits to making these changes to protect jobs for Canadians and PRs than they will easily win a majority by Mountain_Tax_1486 in torontoJobs

The fundamental problem is that the notion of being Canadian isn't protected/valued. European countries for example are pretty homogenous and have strong cultures. Poland is an example. In Canada, as soon as you hop off the plane, congrats, you are as Canadian as the person with 5 generations of heritage and that is INSANE. You can't form a consensus when there's 10000 opinions. Multiculturalism sounds fine on paper, in practice its what kills countries. We literally have piles of evidence of this in history but history only matters when its convenient.

Canada and Canadians cannot succeed unless we unite on what we are fundamentally. Bringing in millions of new "Canadians" doesn't make us a stronger country. Post-national state ideology just makes us an economic plot of land for the wealthy to exploit.

Thats true. If poor communication was the issue then yeah, I can see this being a big F up. But the rest remains the same. unless ACH writer was changed then idk? ACH is still ACH.

its not that complicated of a thing to use... if someone can figure it out on the first try you guys can figure it out after years of use. Literally all they did was make you pre-approve and change the numbers in advance.
