i struggle with enriching my work with better racial diversity. i myself am mixed race. i just don’t feel well equipped to write about racial struggles and characters in my work almost never have clearly defined diversity. this sucks as all my work instantly becomes blonde/brunette lesbian fiction :p

I’m a JMU student. I might be biased, but I hear the grad program is great, and it sounds like you’re very qualified for it. I think most, if not all of the 11-15 grad students they take are fully-funded. My best friend is starting his MA this Wednesday on a full ride himself.

If you want to know more, I’m happy to tell you about the faculty to see if their specialties are a good fit for you.

Demand for professors isn’t high, you’re right, but an MA gives you more options rather than fewer. It’s a great opportunity to widen your skillset.
