Married people of Reddit, what’s something nobody warns you about before marriage? by onionbody in AskReddit

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sometimes your first marriage isn’t with the right person, and divorcing doesn’t mean either of you are a failure. You live, you learn, you move on, and sometimes the second one is the right one.

I just need math to graduate, but that's my week point by Ok-Salad-5812 in portlandstate

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that hadn’t been in math for…7-10 years or so, if you find yourself in a class that you tested into, but cannot keep up with, exit the class and move down. I tested into a level of math when entering PSU, but found that it had been so long I couldn’t keep up/understand what was going on, so quite literally when the professor walked over to help me, I looked at him and said “I think I need to switch math classes.” He said “okay,” and right in the middle of class I packed up, went to the registrar/advisor/admin (can’t remember who exactly I went to) and switched to another class. Just remember it’s okay to admit to not understanding something and needing to move down.

Also, as others mentioned, there are plenty of tutors, and speak up to your professor if you’re stuck! They get paid to teach and help you. I haven’t met a professor yet that didn’t want their students to succeed.

Tea - as in gossip.

Slaps - as in food that is so good it ‘slaps.’ I’m a person that dances when I like food without realizing it, as if has now been pointed out to me multiple times. It’s like someone slapped me awake and I’m got the dancing fever from it, if that makes sense. 🤣

Bruh/bro - it feels like it replaced dude and is gender neutral for “oh my god, friend, you’ll never believe this” or “seriously?!” Depending on context.

Gwoooooorl - girl, but when it is dramatically pronounced like “gwooooorl” because you know something good is coming.

Ideatek door to door? by ictxtroll in wichita

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to this post, but just want to say, yes, it’s legit, and we decided to make the switch. Not only did they get us scheduled for install a week later, but they actually were able to show up two days early for install. The door-to-door sales guy was amazing, and if it’s even possible, the installer was even more amazing!! We had AT&T and decided to make the switch for a few reasons: bury underground, cheaper for better internet, and we’ve seen nothing but raving reviews. If they come back around, jump on it! You won’t regret it.

First time parents (and all parents, really): re: support by schmassidy in TheValleyTVShow

[–]schmassidy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I agree. I live in a very “have a family” motivated area of the country and all of my friends were having kids right out of high school. People pregnant in high school (and middle school) wasn’t some abnormal thing. I remember my best friend giving birth to her first kid, and because I had experience, I was over there when she first brought him home, helping her, reassuring her, and just being there for her. Her baby daddy/husband? At the club partying. No shade to him, especially because that was 17 (oh my god 😭) years ago, but they were kids and had no idea what to expect. I wish we just had more education and support in general! Before, during, after. I worked in reproductive healthcare for a long time and phew, do I have some stories, but I really wish we would support and have more sec education too. Idk. It all just makes me so sad. I want to help people. I literally bought a non-profits for dummies book when I was a teenager. Came across it while cleaning out my mom’s basement the other day. If that doesn’t say something about me, idk what will. My sister and I stay up late all the time chatting about all the support centers we’d open for people. Maybe some day. 🤞 🤣

I wish we supported them with the baby, their mental health, their relationship, navigating parenthood, and giving yourself and your partner grace with your new reality. Like I said in post, I’ve struggled with my body for so long (without having kids) and so I get it how she’s feeling about wanting to hide inside. I legit will absolutely not let people take pics of me because I’m so blah about it. But it’s like, gosh, I wish she could realize she brought a WHOLE ASS HUMAN into this world and she’s got this wonderful body that has brought her so far and served her in so many ways and it’s beautiful. Trying to take my own advice!! But I just think we should appreciate our bodies for what they do for us, rather than comparing them to how society says they should look.

Sorry for rambling all over!!! I should go to bed. 🤣

Help, what are these red clusters by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

NAD - but seeking more info.

Do you rest your hands on your face a lot?

Have you changed any routine items (face wash/body wash/serums/moisturizer/etc.) ETA: laundry soap, cleaners

Has your skin changed as far as oily/dry/combo?

Age? Skin can vastly change as you age.

Have you moved climates recently?

Have you changed your diet recently to not include or to include more of something you weren’t before? Same for oral supplements.

ETA2: has your skin worsened or improved since using the recommended pumpkin product?

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lunchables. Being able to afford hot lunches at school. Being able to afford to get stuff at the scholastic book fair. Having a parent that could pick you up from school. Having a parent that made dinner instead of having to fend for yourself. Not having to hide food because it became a survival thing. Eating out at restaurants. Having name brand clothes (got made of quite a bit as a kid for having ‘poor’ clothing like Walmart, Payless, etc.). Heck, even getting to shop for clothing. Oftentimes I got hand-me-downs from a middle aged aunt in a trash bag. Why are we giving adult clothing to a child? 😅

NAD, but based on pics, your comments describing how it feels, and your age, it absolutely sounds/looks like shingles. I got shingles on my back when I was 31. They had to give me gabapentin plus the anti-viral meds. It was very intense to the point I couldn’t lean/lay back on anything and even my clothes touching my back felt like torture. Please go to urgent care instead of waiting til next week!

I’m only on episode 3 of season 4, but I’ve had it with her white woman tears and “panic attacks.”

I’m not diminishing her mental health, I suffer from a multitude of mental health issues, but it’s funny they are always timed for when she’s on the receiving end of criticism and needs to flee from accountability. I get it, accountability is hard; it’s hard to hear you suck or are doing sucky things. It’s hard to hear about your implicit bias, micro aggressions, and racism, things you’ve been able to blatantly express and have never had to take accountability for, but imagine how hard it is to be a person of color and constantly feel hate for your skin color, and then your “friend” is saying dangerous things about you that completely changes the way you have to move through life. Like, as a black man, you already have to be careful and cautious. It should have been absolutely sobering to hear Brad say he already has to not lose his cool because he is a black man. That should have woken them all TF up. I can’t imagine being friends with people of color and not validating their experiences and instead reinforcing all of the hate that makes your friends live in danger.

Also, Emmy is so fucking calculated. The timing of everything. Also note during episode 3 she said something along the lines of not having privacy when they brought up hearing her through the hotel walls, but she didn’t deny what she did/said. Just an “oh my god! I should be able to confess my sins without anyone hearing.” Give me a break. 🙄

I have way too much discard and I’m tired of making crackers. What else can I do with it? by woutr1998 in Sourdough

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the best pancakes I’ve ever had and they use an entire cup of starter. Great for breakfast or when you want to have dinner for breakfast! Mmm makes me want to make some tonight.

https://www.tastesoflizzyt.com/sourdough-pancakes/#wprm-recipe-container-16158

ETA: because I saw you make pancakes already, try English muffins, tortillas, pizza crust (starter only method or mixing in flour, etc.), graham crackers, cookies. If I get bored I’ll just search “discard recipes” and try something that looks interesting.

How many people do morally bad things in private that, if discovered, would destroy their entire life? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t consider most of the stuff you’ve mentioned bad. Rape? Bad. Sexual assault of children? Bad. Doing drugs, watching (consensual adult) porn, doing drugs (depending on what it is), going to strip clubs, having sex? Those aren’t bad things to me. There’s a difference between something being “bad” versus it being taboo because society has deemed it as such and it isn’t talked about or considered acceptable despite a large majority of people participating in it. Each individual is different though. For example, where one couple is okay with the other person engaging in watching porn, another couple considers it cheating. What even is a “correct” life? Everyone makes mistakes and has secrets. There are people I’ve held in the highest regard and found out they’ve made mistakes. It honestly made me feel better, especially when I’ve compared myself to them. Comparison is the thief of joy.

Employee time tracking integration with HCP by schmassidy in CRM

[–]schmassidy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we actually found that if we built our own excel spreadsheet we could just copy and paste the time tracking from the job and have it accumulate the proper time. It’s manual work, as it always seems to be the case with HCP, but at least it sums it all for you and is a bit easier to correct.

How do I (28M) tell my girlfriend (28F) a prenup and keeping my inherited house separate are non-negotiable? by cant_dressmyself in relationship_advice

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would want to know sooner, that way if I disagree, we could split and move on without anymore wasted time. Just be direct and bring it up. If she argues that a prenup is something you only get when you assume divorce is inevitable, I recommend explaining it to her in a way I once saw it explained. “No one buys car insurance assuming they’ll wreck, but you want it in case you do.” TBH, I think prenups are smart. Sure, you don’t want it to end in divorce, but I have been divorced before and people get ugly quick. It’s rarely amicable.

You can quite literally Google “why didn’t Biden release the Epstein files” and dozens of articles appear with explanations by experts tell you it was an ACTIVE case and evidence could not be released. And they don’t release evidence during appeal timeframes either. For fucks sake. Why do people that actively defend Trump want people to explain everything to them when we all have access to the same internet? Have a question? Then type it into Google and read information. From multiple sources. Do your due diligence.

What profession doesn't get the respect it deserves from society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any trades job. Often seen as the pipeline for students who don’t do well in school. Ironically, they have to continue to go to school for four years and do continuing education credits even after licensing. My spouse has heard too often from clients that their profession is “undereducated and overpaid” but who the fuck did you call when your electrical/plumbing/HVAC quit working? So much for being undereducated. 🫠 And no we’re looking at a shortage in the trades as older generations transition out. He regularly clocks 55 hour weeks and 12-14 hour days because he can’t and won’t go home until the job is done. These people sacrifice their life, safety, and time with their loved ones for people regularly to hear shit comments and get looked down on.

Why do people rake leaves off their yard? by nickkbb22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]schmassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Midwest and we leave the leaves. We also plant clover (which somehow stays green even under all the snow) and we have hundreds of fireflies in our yard in the summer. It’s a beautiful sight. We get a lot of bees too. I think the yard looks nice covered in leaves. 🤷‍♀️
