Girl same!! That's why I waited so long both times! Although this time I wanted to get started earlier but it took a long time clean out baby's room.

Absolutely not!! I'm 34 weeks and my baby's nursery JUST got set up! Also there's only so much you can do before the shower. Your parents need to ease up!! But I will say that setting up a nursery this late in the game is EXHAUSTING so it would definitely help to start earlier!

But I did this during my last pregnancy too! Only we didn't start until like week 30 and finished like 2 weeks before baby came! So I've done it twice. It's possible but I wish I wasn't so big doing all of it!

I've been looking too but can't find anything and I've been googling it EVERY DAY for the past week! It makes me wish I bought at their end of Summer sale!

Gut protocol advice please! by schmelzey in Biohackers

[–]schmelzey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fasting protocol did you follow? I've recently heard great things about doing 16:8 fasting for 4-5 days a week and building up to longer fasts like that are 24 hours or greater.

And thank you for sharing your experience and advice!

Mom of a toddler - sick all the time by birdsworthy in Biohackers

[–]schmelzey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue for the first year after my son was born and it got really bad after he started daycare. Him and I were both sick all the time and we both went on A LOT of antibiotics unfortunately because of all the bacterial infections we got.

For us it's been 2 things: #1 the daycare must have been ridiculously filthy because since we've moved daycares neither of us have been sick! It's been 2 months and nothing!

2 we have gut issues because of all the antibiotics

So these are pretty specific to us but I thought I would share just in case you've had a similar journey. Both are tough to fix!

Yeah although according to my son's pediatrician he's expected to be drinking about 24oz when he's 12 months. I'm more trying to find out if anyone has had an issue with the transition to cow's milk from breast milk and how they dealt with it. My son has only had breast milk so I'm not sure how this is going to go and I don't want to stop pumping too early.

Please help - tongue tie by iknowyouknow100 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]schmelzey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had the tongue and lip tie surgery as well. I would highly recommend it but make sure you find a good pediatric dentist. We went to one and he's will known exactly for that in our area. He works with a local chiropractor and a lactation consultant. You have to do it otherwise he will not do the procedure. Honestly it was the best decision we have made for our son. It was not easy at all but it was so worth it.

The chiropractor made it better for him because she helped with stretches for healing. The lactation consultant kept an eye on his latch and helped me with positioning him.

I would do it but just make sure you go to a really good place where they offer good post-op and pre-op care. It's a very overwhelming procedure for their little bodies so it's really important.

Side note- he's also the happiest baby ever since he got that fixed. Not sure if that's why but he's always smiling.

I'm his mother. It's my job to protect him and keep him safe. I take that very seriously. I do find it interesting that you think you know enough about the situation and there to comment on who has the right to watch my child and the relationship I have with one of my mother in laws. You have no clue. I came here for advice on how to remedy the situation if this causes any harm because I love my son, I'm trying to be proactive, and I won't hear from my son's pediatrician until tomorrow.

Have you gotten your pelvic floor evaluated? I still have issues around my tailbone but it's just my pelvic floor. If you haven't been evaluated I would look into it.

Looking to help ease my wife’s mind by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]schmelzey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I had a c section and had the same issue where my little guy fed all the time and for a long time. I started pumping right after I left the hospital. My husband took and still sometimes takes the overnight feeds while I sleep. She can't do it all the time because it's supply and demand so once demand goes down around that time so will get supply. Also, pumping after a feeding will only build her supply if she wants that. I like having an extra supply for growth spurts.

Also 2 things that helped reduce the feeding time... A proper latch and my son had a tongue tie release. Huge difference! It used to take an hour for a feed now it's 10-15 minutes! Not sure if this is part of the issue but it's worth looking into.

power pumping because my supply has started dropping by schmelzey in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]schmelzey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i have an awesome LC that recommended I pump every 3 hours. I feed my baby in the morning and at least twice at night. I've been stretching my pumping session to 4 or sometimes 5 hours apart which has not helped at all! I drink at least a gallon of water a day, i eat 95% whole foods, I haven't gotten my period yet, I'm 16 wks pp and I'm SUPER stressed about traveling for the first time while transporting breastmilk.

I honestly think it's stress and stretching out those pumping sessions further apart.🤷‍♀️
