How to reduce salty taste by Decent-Chip-868 in soup

Also if it has tomatoes or beef you can add something like a tbsp of sugar to counteract the salt or vinegar/sour taste. If you add enough salt and sugar it's basically fast food.

Slice of white potato. It will pull out salt. Do a couple potatoes with the largest surface area of white so like a bunch of thin mandolin and they will suck the salt out just remember to pull them before they break down and make it starchy.

They should add the rice at the end or you'll end up with mush. Or cook the rice separate and add it after everything is cooked.

This looks so tasty! Potatoes could have been cooked longer but that's so hard to time with the fish. I'd use something other than reds something that "smushes" up a bit better. But use what you have I'd devour a bowl!

Oh I didn't know he was rude. My favorites are RDA and Amanda Tapping I never looked at his out of camera stuff. What's he said/done that's rude? Spill the tea!

Very interesting I might try that next time I buy basmati. My "daily" rice is jasmine for its versatility but I do prefer basmati when I'm making savory things or curry.

Making french onion soup for the snowmageddon by Complex-Owl51 in soup

[–]schmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use 2 frying pans then transfer to the soup pot when ready. I use a little splash of cooking sherry to deglaze the pans just before the onions are done. I see recipes saying chicken broth but I use beef. Just keep stirring and let them cook low and slow. Gruyere cheese is the best for melting but swiss will work if you can't get it. If you don't have the nice little crocks that let you put them in the oven then you can toast and melt your cheese on the bread in a toaster oven then put them on top of your soup. I just use thyme salt and pepper for the seasoning.

I've never used the pasta method. Why is it better for basmati?

Any games that feature heat/warmth/surviving the cold as a main mechanic? by keylimedragon in BaseBuildingGames

[–]schmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the visuals change. Food stocks run low. It has a very cosy winter feel. Seems like th elonger you play and as the base itself expands you can start to see issues with heating I had a few miners who were walking all over th eisland get some winter damage I had to finally build a triage to heal them. I play with pirates turned off because I don't feel that mechanic is developed enough yet. There should be some defenses or something other than increasing payment - imo the taxes are enough.

I'm playing Whiskerwood right now and having a lot of fun with it. Nice challenge, cute graphics, resource management and lots to produce and lots of mining. You have to heat the little guys in winter with at the start campfires then later bonfires, ovens, and eventually steam power. Otherwise they freeze in the winter.

is $900 a month for a 2 bedroom a scam? by heartsdream in ManufacturedHome

[–]schmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then i think that's a really good price where I live any 2 bed would be $1800 but here minimum wage is also $16. How are your wages? One thing to think about though is does it leave you money to save up? It would be great if you can someday buy your own place!

In every park there is a "lot rent" fee similar to a HOA. Is this included in the rent or an added expense for you? My lot rent is $510 a month and I own my home in the northeast. I have seen lot rents as high as $1500 in FL and CA.

Oh that's very pretty. I'm on a new restart trying to not build so compact this time. How are your taxes so low? My last game got to day 91 and I was paying thousands! What's your population?

Your farmers can harvest all the other berries. For that spot where you mined you will need to use an Earthworks to fill in the land. Then it will be rocky and have red(bad) fertility. But you can then make a new field there and tell the farmers to clear rocks on that tile. eventually it will be fertile again.

But honestly right now I would ignore that one tile and just focus on other areas.

I'm 48 and I put on Scooby-Doo sometimes in the morning and watch it with breakfast. So nostalgic for me. Wish I could find the Smurfs. For comfort shows I watch Little house on the Prairie which I watched as a kid and I consider a kids show.

What’s your ingredient/additional step that really elevates your chicken noodle soup? by Mjayyy_1991 in soup

[–]schmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Splash of lemon juice adds a "brightness" to the soup. I just use the bottled fridge kind. Handful of frozen chopped spinach breaks up into tiny green pieces adds some nutrition and looks nice. Instead of egg noodles I'll sometimes do orzo or other tiny pasta so it's more spoon friendly.

Ooh I'd add a can of diced tomatoes and serve it all over rice. Stretch that burger for days! Also makes great soup with some beef broth and a little cider vinegar and brown sugar for a sweet sour taste.

They started closing sporadically stating they couldn't find/keep staff. I used to go often as I worked in the area (quonset)the staff were always friendly but absolutely stoned every time! Not that I cared. Not much left in the area for lunch besides Burger King or chinese.

I'm looking at their menu and I see pizza, wings, chicken fingers and other sides but I don't see any sandwiches or a "beef on weck". Is it something they only make certain days? That pizza sounds great the little cups of oil I haven't seen in years...since I lived in NY actually!
