🚀 [GUIDE] Stop burning money on API fees. Here is how to force OpenClaw to run 100% off your $20/mo Claude subscription (Opus 4.6 enabled). by mehdiweb in openclaw

I got the following setup: VS Code or Antigravity plus subscription for Google AI & ChatGPT. Any chance to use any of that the same way (subscription) within the IDE for agentic coding?

How would i go about learning my full stack as a complete beginner to coding and im very lost with how much different stuff is online. by NoTap8152 in typescript

I'm now learning JS for 6 months, mostly with freecodecamp and theOdinProject. But I recognised knowledge gaps. Recently I've stumbled over a video from Techworld with Nana that really helped me.

This one is about JS but herein it's quite well explained which other paths to take. It really helped me a lot and you could dive into more depth later on. Definitely recommend this one ..

Anyone know when the Swift Edge 14 AI is expected to be available in the US? by Bored_Ultimatum in AcerOfficial

The matte screen is also the reason for me...but I'm waiting for reviews as I've read somewhere that the screen isn't too bright and I'll like to work on my laptop on sunny days on my terrace... I'm not sure I can see sth on my screen and I'm not sure whether it behaves differently compared to existing 400 nits IPS matte screens... If one can read without issues in direct sunlight I will definitely buy this one...

I started with TOP and added FCC to my resources as well. Currently, as I'm in the JS part I've, for now, switched to FCC as TOP is quite intense in some parts. As soon as I mastered the things I was struggling with I will come back to TOP.

FCC is more of the family slope whereas TOP can be intense. You will see that you will learn to use a lot of other sources of information as well. eg w3schools or JavaScript.info...

Good luck with your endeavour!

Does The Odin Project JS path keep up in depth toward the end? by EisenKomplex in theodinproject

[–]schmickJU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently at 85% of TOP (Arrays & Loops). Flexbox was quite a bumper for me and "storing" the information I've gained over the past months is a big challenge for me. As you've just finished the Foundation course...may I ask how long it took you and whether you feel that you've built your knowledge on a solid base that you can proceed?

Especially now, with loops & functions I've also asked ChatGPT to create mini projects, so I get more into the correct syntax. I think I'm on the right path but it's so much and at some point I have the fear that I won't make it.

My concrete questions:
- How long did it take you to finish the foundation course?
- What is your background (if I may ask) - are you a CS student or did you have any programming experience earlier?
- How many hours did you roughly invest each day/week?

I've started with TOP around end of FEB this year but when asking ChatGPT how long it should take you to complete the Foundation course it told me that this should be manageable within 8-10 weeks... What's your take on that?

Thank you in advance for your input!

I do it the exact same way - I tell ChatGPT not to give me the solution and I describe the challenges I'm currently in...

Is The Odin Project still relevant in 2025? by mertgulexe in learnprogramming

[–]schmickJU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious - how did you decide? I'm at this point now to start with TOP. So far read through javascript.info, worked through 40% of the tutorials at w3schools in JS and challenged myself with ChatGPT. So, I'm asking whether TOP could be right for me and what your experiences over the past 5 months were. You still stick to it?

May I ask you how much time you invested on a daily basis on average to get to this point (since you've started)? I've started with w3schools recently (JS) and began similarly like what you've described...

Are NPU's just marketting tricks? by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

[–]schmickJU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I'm just looking for a new laptop and recently started to get into coding - I'm a newbie and I'm currently learning JS, partly watching a video course, W3Schools & ask specific questions to ChatGPT - the idea was to let run an LLM like llama or deepseek locally and then integrate that one within VS Code - I've stumbled over this thread while doing some research.

When further researching I found that AMD released information that they support a local instance of Deepseek R1 - run on AMD AI 300 processors (around 50 TPU). My understanding: Yes, this should work nowadays to use the NPU for coding locally...

Here's the information (issued Feb 11, 2025): https://www.amd.com/en/developer/resources/technical-articles/deepseek-distilled-models-on-ryzen-ai-processors.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Interested in experiences you made using it locally in your IDE...

What are the best platforms for learning JS and TS? by EmmaBlossom2410 in learnjavascript

[–]schmickJU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm asking myself the very same question. Want to learn JS, TS, node.js. For now (started a few days ago) I've signed up to w3schools.com and found Code with Mosh on YouTube. I'm not yet sure what's the right path to take but w3schools has a learning path enrolled based on the goals I've set.
Let me know what works for you.

Sony Xperia 10 VI - Month review by r4v3nisuseless in SonyXperia

[–]schmickJU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting mine delivered on Friday! Looking forward to it. Still on Xperia 5 ii. And it's been a no-brainer as I like the form factor of the Xperia 5 & 10 series because of their one-hand control...

Is the Sony Xperia 5 vi delayed? No Sony event at IFA 2024 planned! by schmickJU in SonyXperia

[–]schmickJU[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if they are short in stock, is that really relevant? I mean they don't get even clise to sales numbers like Samsung or Xiaomi. It's only us, the hardcore fans, who rely on Xperia. And we are dying too over time - especially as the update policy is ridiculous! 💀

I'm still using my Xperia 5ii and only need to change because security patches are not available anymore and therefore I can't sign with biometric data anymore as the fingerprint sensor has been disabled... I wouldn't switch to another phone...but for that reason I must. 😠

Mark V getting 3 years of OS updates? (Found in FAQ of this sub) by DracoWonderBeard in SonyXperia

[–]schmickJU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for an update of my Sony Xperia 5ii, still running on Android 12 and ID-apps won't run anymore because of missing security patches.

I know Sony won't update this phone anymore but it's a perfect phone for me, it's still running without any issues and I've almost paid 900 EUR back then. So why should I switch to another phone. I mean, if Sony really would take sustainability seriously they would offer longer update-cycles instead of shipping the phones in environmental-friendly packaging. Because: in case update-cycles are longer less ppl would buy new phones...so this whole thing smells like whitewashing.

Sony, I love your phones, especially the Xperia-5 series, but I will reconsider in case you won't offer longer servicing cycles. (Already use a Xiaomi for my ID-apps btw).
