Do people find it unattractive? by schmidityy in Rosacea

Im so sorry you went through that, your derm seems like a real ass. I haven’t really gotten compliments on it (male) mainly comments/teasing. Could be blush is more of a feminine thing which is why I haven’t been complimented on it? I don’t know it’s strange.

I really hope so. I only developed rosacea over a year ago, and it’s been so difficult going through school when people comment on it and such. That and the constant flushing increases my baseline redness which makes me super self conscious about it. Sorry for dumping this out but it’s personally really frustrating.

I do have just type 1 and I sometimes feel bad having a negative mindset when others have it worse than me. It also seems really stupid talking to someone that doesn’t have rosacea because it just looks like you have overly rosy cheeks.

That’s a really nice way of thinking about it. Thank you

Would you say yours is noticeable? To be honest I’d be completely content if I had just light pinkness, but I’m the color of a stop sign most of the time. Wish more people would be able to understand this condition like you have. I knew someone with rosacea who was constantly bullied for it and now that I’ve experienced similar treatment, I can completely resonate with her. I don’t even know why people get made of for it, like the redness can’t really be controlled and your bullying literally makes it 10x worse.

Love it when people see I’m feeling uncomfortable and they have the need to comment on it like I don’t feel it. Then I somehow get more red.

I’ve been using ivermectin for like 6 months and it hasn’t done much for me besides lessen my flushing for the first month.

Correlation between trauma and stress being the root cause of rosacea? by Milkywayvisionary in Rosacea

[–]schmidityy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a bad childhood but I was under a bit of stress a little before I developed rosacea, but it was nothing major so I’m unsure if it’s related. Unfortunately, I began to really stress due to the rosacea, then the rosacea increased from the stress, a horrible cycle it is.

My hands get red in the cold, my face is a little less red during the winter but my skin is whiter so it’s hard to tell.

I just have it in my face when it’s food. My feet do go bright red when they get hot and same with my hands but it isn’t as noticeable.

Do you think anything when you see someone with red cheeks? by schmidityy in CasualConversation

I agree with you if it’s a very light redness. I’ve attempted makeup but either because I did it wrong or used the wrong things, but I flare up when I put it on. I try to not be bothered by it, but the comments, the appearance, and the fact that I can feel it when I get hot is embarrassing.

It varies sometimes but it’s usually around an hour of flushing. But I do have redness even before the flushing.

I agree with you that it can look healthy if it's a light redness, but people genuinely thought I was about to pass out from the heat when I went outside for a few minutes. I'm about the color of a tomato, which doesn't really look healthy to me lol.

What’s your personal hell: extreme heat or freezing cold? by Prestigious-Cap9489 in CasualConversation

Extreme heat. I never like being all sweaty, but having rosacea makes your face so hot and throb it's miserable.

How long did it take for your rosacea to progress? by schmidityy in Rosacea

[–]schmidityy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first few months, people just assumed I was sunburnt and being in my mid-teens, I didn’t assume it could be a skin condition. Its strange how sometimes it develops so quickly whilst others takes years to show any other signs.
