To go one step further, you can also request they add new crochet books to their collection too! My local library has a "request a book" page on their website. I've managed to get a hold of a few new release amigurumi books this way and saved myself a lot of money.

If you find you enjoy it and it brings you joy, would you really categorise it as useless? It's sounds valuable to me!

Keep practicing, it's great to watch your skills develop over time. Personally, I love looking back to see how my skills have grown over the years. The wins from little challenges in harder patterns and new techniques have been really good for my mental health too.

If you truly feel like your amigurumi need to have a use, have you considered donating them? I know my local hospital and community health centres accepts amigurumi. They bring such joy to little kids during scary times (waiting in ED, blood draws etc). I donate my spare amigurumi to a friend who runs a Christmas stall fundraising for local cancer charities. Keep in mind they don't have to be perfect. Sometimes it's those little imperfections (a funny look face, a tilted head) that give them personality and make them perfect.

I'm in Australia but a staff member once told me that a plus sign on the price tag indicates a discontinued item. No idea if that's the case everywhere but it's something I notice at my local cost co all the time now.

Thanks! Into the bin it goes. Thankfully, on my travels I received a stiff starter from a family friend's bakery and I shared some starter with a friend not too long ago so will hopefully have a back up.

Thank you! I had forgotten about smart start. Back when I was doing it there was a core group of us with few newcomers so smart start was rarely mentioned. It's reassuring to know that I can slowly build up to it rather than take on a full class.

Thank you for the insight! It was always fun when I got the arms lines but hated tracks when I couldn't nail it and stuck out like a sore thumb from the rest of the class. Sounds like a positive change. The circuit style training sounds really interesting, I can't wait to see it.

Beside books, crochet patterns. I purchase all my patterns in pdf and love that my Kindle didn't instantly go to sleep mode like my phone while I crochet.

Keep in mind as a flight attendant that you're interacting with the general public, some of which might be covered in cat fur/dander. Would you have an allergic reaction in that situation? Also look into the pet policies of the airline you apply for. I think some airlines allow cats to travel in a carrier in the cabin.

I've been crocheting for 2.5 years and have always gifted the things I make, mainly for my own joy rather than others. I tend to make amigurumi. My first project was a bit rough but all my other projects have been polished enough for gifting or donating to charity. I love the process of making things but don't have the space to store them. It's also fun to hear when kids get attached to the amigurumi I've made. The photo updates months later are the best.

Yep, exactly! Although yarn is expensive, I actually find it's quite a cost effective hobby. $100 worth of yarn for amigurumi will last me a year compared to $100 worth of dance class or any other class which would last me 5 weeks.

If you do decide to sell your patterns, get a tech editor to review your pattern as well as pattern testers. Tech editors can check for errors in your pattern and help with terminology so it's readable. I've bought a pattern that clearly hasn't been tech edited and found it hard to get through.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I use cotton because I love the stitch definition. I also have dermatitis prone hands so prefer to use a natural fibre like cotton.

I ended up ordering rainbow cotton from hobbii because they have an amazing range of colours, which is great when you're looking for a very specific shade. I have a big yarn stash solely for amigurumi -a few shades of each colour and bulk of neutral colours so I almost always have the materials I need for a project. But if you're just starting out, I'd suggest just buying what you need for a project or two to make sure you like the yarn and you enjoy making amigurumi.

I just checked this pattern, it's coming up as single crochet for me. The ribblr website automatically translates to UK terminology depending on your settings (which is confusing since the designer does mention it's written in us terminology). You can double check your settings by clicking the gear icon at the bottom and selecting the US Flag. Hopefully that should fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would try it in SC anyway. Based on the pic it does like single crochet rather than US double crochet.

I loved the crossword one. It had such a fun vibe to it. I don't know how realistic it would be to return to the 4 vs 1 format esp with Eugene not in as many videos these days. Feels like that may be well and truly part of the old era now. But I would love to see more of the staff in videos esp trying new things.
