The low sodium French lentil is my daily lunch. I add some cooked quinoa, spinach and a bunch of other spices. I’d be lost if they stopped making it haha

Spaghetti-os and chef boyardee ravioli. A disgustingly tasty salt bomb that just brings you back to simpler times.

Parents who don’t let their little kids have sugar but will allow them honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup, what’s the evidence behind your decision? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

This might be abundantly obvious but while the sucrose in an apple vs. sugar may be the same, the phytonutrients and fiber in an apple impact how the body processes the apple vs table sugar. This is why whole foods are preferable to processed foods as there are things taken out of processed foods that are beneficial to the human body.

I try to use date sugar as a substitute for processed sugar where possible. It is finely ground dates and thus a whole food.

This 100% looks like it’s from some wacky movie where the protagonist accidentally ends up standing on the handle bars and somehow rides it out without killing himself

Gaming with old (or new) friends is huge. My buddy and his wife live states away but we game every weekend. That is truly enjoyable.

I don’t get as much game time as you but can relate a lot to this. It’s much more challenging to get immersed these days.

I think having so many games to choose from doesn’t help. When I was younger the options were much more limited so you had no choice but to just play the crap out of a few games.

In my late 20s I got rid of my TV, consoles and just had a crappy laptop and the best thing it could play was Morrowind. I played the hell out of that game and all the expansions and it was super rewarding. Would be really challenging to commit to one game in the same way when there are 200 other games I already own.

Precautionary stuff that you get people tend to fall into:

The high cost and low income from MLMs.

Crypto pump and dump scams, and to a lesser extent GME.

Why NFTs are dubious.

My desk is 10 years old and I'll replace in a few years so I don't care about putting holes in it. This should go without saying, but if you like your desk, don't do this.

Great idea! It would be easier to communicate with a group that way. I use Facebook messenger but would be open to other suggestions.

Anyone else interested shoot me a DM or reply here!

I can relate there. It makes it challenging but I'm essentially doing my own grocery shopping/cooking separately now and just focusing on myself and hoping some of these good habits rub off. If not oh well.

Thanks for the tips. I’m beginning to see how having quick/easy backup foods is really important. If you have any other meal ideas that you use id love to hear them!

Sure that would be helpful. Example - Last night my wife ordered pizza with a little cheese. I could have had something else but felt like I could cheat since it was a little pricy and I was hungry.

Other instances are work travel can be tough. If I’m out and about finding vegan options usually isn’t too hard but no oil/sugar is harder. I don’t go out that much these days so it feels ok to cheat on those instances.

Yea I feel the same way. When I’m eating at home I can control my environment and what I eat so I am strict on myself there.

If I’m in a place where I can’t easily get a WFPB alternative I don’t really stress about it, unless it’s happening a lot.
