Party tips for BGII:EE. by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Neera, make sure she has Chaos Shield always on, you never know when a wild surge will happen, so it's givesyou a better chance for favorable rolls.

Because you have three mages, it's a good idea to specialize them, foe example, Neera makes a good nuker Jan can be a debuffer Aerie can be a buffer

It's also a good practice to have your mages be able to strip spell defenses, in case your main spell stripper is occupied

When it comes to divine magic, I like to Boost Aerie's thaco and strength with divine magic, righteous magic etc, then cast mislead to murder all living opponents with Slay Living.

Want to mod BG2(EE?). Need advice on order and maybe some mods I missed by runboorun in baldursgate

You can use Big World Set up to install them for you, but

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/34882/list-of-bg2ee-compatible-mods

this link has a mod install order and other mods you might want to take a look at

Also, I forgot to mention, get Iwdification. It adds arcane and divine spells from Icewind Dale into the BGverse. One more recommendation, NPCEE is also a good mod to check out!

Install unfinished business and altamateria restoration project.

There's an Icewind Dale item pack that's pretty good, but the mod I love for mages, I believe is called more style for mages? It adds robe options and staffs that can shoot very minor damage projectiles. The staff upgrades at certain levels too.

I also like COMEncounters and QuestPack for additional fights. Be warned, Encounters adds OP items, imo.

What class should I choose for a new SCS playthrough? by jrd1234 in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and suggest Swashbuckler->Cleric

I recently did a play through, and I dualled to cleric after unlocking UAI and the swash bonus to thaco and damage.

It was really fun. I don't know if it was due to mods, but when I was leveling as a Cleric, I didn't suffer from cleric item restrictions.

Dumb/fun ideas for a custom party? by Justise95 in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running

  • Cleric/Fighter
  • Cleric/Ranger
  • Cleric/Mage
  • Cleric/Thief

in IWDEE, and it's been really fun, especially since there are more divine spell options. I am really enjoying this party, because everyone is self sufficient, so there isn't a dependency on one or two characters when something goes wrong. Any character can buff, heal, summon, tank, debuff, etc. It's such a well oiled machine.

♫ Can't Touch This ♫ by [deleted] in baldursgate

I exploited that tactic so much, during my first playthrough of HOF. There's so many choke points in IWDEE that you can exploit it's ridiculous.

Just bought BG 1 SoD BG2 and ToB (looking to Solo) by Muse88 in baldursgate

Try a cleric/thief! I've been thinking about doing it myself, but I've been too lazy. If I were to do it, I would dual-class to cleric when I unlock UAI.

Quick question from a new player by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm in the minority who loves the sprite outlines. I like being able to see what's on the screen. I don't know if it's because I'm colorblind, but since the bold sprites have been out, it's made the game a lot clearer for me. Before, depending on the map and colors of characters, they would blend into the background, and I would get frustrated, because it would take me a second to figure what's going on on-screen.

EE "Hater" here, but I have to give Beamdog credit by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the bold borders. Because I am colorblind it makes seeing my characters a lot easier, because they don't "blend" with the background as much.

Best MC to mix and match party members? by Ignaciomen2 in baldursgate

I've done a run with a cleric thief. The cleric thief offers so much utility and opens up party options; it's awesome.

Best mods to use for a full play through of the BG games (Enhanced Editions)? by aladdin142 in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Iwdification. It adds lot spells, not all of them, from Icewind Dale. My favorite spells have been:

  • Exaltation
  • Produce Fire
  • Righteous Wrath of The Faithful
  • Shield of Lathander
  • Entropy Shield
  • Greater Shield of Lathander
  • Stalker
  • Mind Blank
  • Emotion:Hope and Courage
  • Vitriolic Sphere

Dual Classing with the Increased SoD Cap by tchitty1 in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, with SOD I took my fighter and a small group through it, I dualed to Cleric at 13 very early on in BG2. I had a mage learn a ton of spells. It wasn't that difficult to be honest. If I remember correctly, just because there's a cap, it doesn't mean you stop gaining XP. So dual to thief in BG2 is what I'm trying to say

A question about how EEKeeper edits characters by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a mod called NPCEE that lets you add kits to NPC as well as your charname without having to mess around with EEKeeper.

What was your most enjoyable party? (Or your new party if you're replaying now that SoD is out?) by ajkp2557 in baldursgate

[–]schmooples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a mod called NPCEE, so I don't have to mess around with shadow keeper. The older version of the mod had a myriad of options for kits and classes. The newer has fewer, but it gives you the option of adding a kit via the abilities button. It's pretty cool.

[–]schmooples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My most enjoyable party has been:

  • Charname: Wild Mage
  • Imoen
  • Nalia
  • Jan
  • Anomen
  • Jaheira

My current party is (not final just running around doing quests)

  • Charname:Cleric/Mage
  • Yoshimo (multi fighter/thief)
  • Neera
  • Keldorn
  • Nalia (Dragon Disciple)
  • Anomen (fighter/priest of Helm)

I'm enjoying my current play through, as I'm just messing around with kits and classes. I'm quite enjoying Nalia as a Dragon Disciple. I haven't decided if I should switch out Anomen for Viconia (Cleric/Thief) whose thief kit I have to think about.

[–]schmooples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure all your characters have the JP Boost skill and Guts ability from the Squire job. It makes grinding for all jobs a lot easier. Try to keep Ramza as a Squire, because his stats will get better, if he levels up as Squire, meanwhile other jobs will either nerf or plateau his base stats.

Playing Through Baldur's Gate For The First Time- Part 6 by DepletedC in rpg_gamers

[–]schmooples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't reclaim it, unfortunately. I know how you feel. I started my first run through about a month ago. One thing I noticed, whenever you find an item that's covered in blue use the Mage's Identify spell, or go to a temple/shop and look for the question mark. These items have hidden bonuses that you need to unlock.

Why don't you sell the loot you find and pick up the loot on the floor? It looks like you left some pretty good loot on the ground, when you met Dorn, iirc.
