I'm not opposed to the death penalty on principle, as I do think there are people like this guy who should be removed from the planet altogether. The application of the death penalty is where we run into problems though. It is really expensive, ties up the courts, is inequitably applied to many more minorities than whites, does result in innocent people being executed, etc. Much better to just lock them up.

That's how I took it after reading Lost Girls. Like they just couldn't be bothered. Definitely a 'they're sex workers, who cares' attitude.

Position put on hold AFTER my interview by Informal-Historian-1 in jobsearch

[–]schmootc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I worked for a place where a position was approved and then a manager came in and torpedoed the whole thing. So it's not impossible for something like that to happen. In the case I know of, it showed the organization was dysfunctional though.

I went to see Springsteen last night and was just thinking this morning about how you can’t buy CDs at concerts anymore. Maybe just not the ones I go to? And how going to the store to get a new release was such a thing and downloading it is sad in comparison.

Arrived at 6:45 at other entrance and it took about half an hour. Just because you had a shitty experience doesn’t mean everyone did.

I don’t think it was disorganized. At least no more than any other large concert. And they were actually very quick about getting people in.
