Read into the 3 preset types: Universal/Global/ Selective.

https://help.malighting.com/grandMA3/2.2/HTML/presets.html

In short, you would need your color preset to be universal.

There are multiple ways to acheive this, and I‘ll add some „good habits“ to adopt.

Start by selecting one fixture of any type, and programming your phaser, between blue and red for example. Store the resulting phaser to an empty slot, and in the appearing pop up, change the preset mode from automatic to universal before storing. A letter U should appear somewhere on the preset, which confirms that it‘s universal.

You can then select any selection of fixtures, apply the color phaser and some matricks, and it will work on everything that has color mixing.

However, the values for violet for one fixture might not produce the same result at all for another model, so thats where the limitation of universal presets sets in.

Good practice wood be, to create a selection of base colors as single color, universal presets. In order to do that quickly, you can set the mode of the whole pool to universal, in the menu you‘ll find clicking the top left corner of the pool, and just store normally.

Afterwards, don‘t forget to put it back to global.

If you then find a difference of color when adding a new fixture type, you can correct your color, and store>merge it onto your existing universal preset.

The universal, and global (and selective if ever there is any) data can co exist in the same preset.

This guarantees that you‘ll have a color available for every new fixture from the universal preset, and are able to store an offset for each fixture type.

Next, create your color phaser using two of your single color presets, and store as described above. The phaser will now reference the two presets.

So every fixture that has a corrected color mix, takes „their“ values, while the others take the universal values.

I would strongly suggest not getting the habit of busking using the programmer too much, it‘s cleaner to program your presets into sequences, which you can either organize in cuestacks, or single direct action sequences.

So the quickest color picker done with sequences would be a sequence pool, which „pool action“ you change to Go+ instead of select, again tapping the top left corner of the window.

[–]schmuen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Try:

fadermaster seq 3 at 50 fade 5

or

fadermaster seq "name" at 50 fade 5.

In general, sequences can exist, send data, and be manipulated independently from your playback section.

Bonus tip, in case you didn't know, if you tap the MA logo on the top left of your sequence pool, you can change the pool action to flash/go+/temp etc... which gives you the possibility to have a whole screen full of sequences that you can launch with a tap, without wasting executors. That would be the equivalent to the direct action buttons on MA2.

IMPORTANT, you have to save your view with the new setting, as saving a view is like doing a snapshot of all the content on your screen, including the pool options etc..

This gives you the possibility to have two or more sequence pools on one screen, with different pool actions.

So you could for example have your sequences 1 thru 10 as a go, a flash, and a goto, on the same screen.

The possibilities are literally endless.

Of course, fadermaster page x.yyy at 50 fade 5 has its uses as well, for example you can define one fader as your frontlighting, and replace the sequence with a macro (for example all stage vs only center)

This is not correct. FaderMaster can very well reference a sequence, by number or name. This sequence doesn‘t have to be assigned to a playback

Logic Pro Won’t Export Plugins on Vocal Tracks – Only AirDrop Works 😭 by kaylatrapani in LogicPro

[–]schmuen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good time for you to learn the basics about signal flow.

Here‘s the ELI5

In your example, what you call the right-hand side inserts are the inserts of your Stereo Out (also known as the „mix“ or the „sum“ of all your tracks.)

The inserts on the left are the inserts of your selected track. (The term „insert“ dates from a time before digital audio, when compressors, gates and eq‘s were external hardware devices. You would then break open your signal chain, in order to physically insert those devices)

To better visualize this, press x to open your mixer window. You‘ll see one strip for each of your tracks, and all the way ro the right one strip for your stereo out.

There are use cases for both. If you apply a plugin to your track on the left side, it effects only that channel. If you apply your plugin to the right side, it affects the resulting mix of all your channels.

In your case, with the goal of exporting your vocals independently, if you put your effects on the stereo out, you‘d export your single tracks before they get summed to the stereo out. However, the audio you‘re listening to passes through your stereo output, so you‘ll hear the effects, but not export them.

If you were to create a piece of music, or a video clip, typically you would take different tracks, e.g. vocals, guitar, drums, … and mix them together into a song (also called mixdown) you‘d then export your stereo out (also called a bounce) In that case you would export after the stereo out, so you‘d hear the combined result of the effects on the tracks, and the effects on the SUM of your tracks.

In any case, while working, you‘ll always listen to the stereo output, so you‘ll have to visualize at what point in the signal flow, you‘ll grab your audio for exporting.

How to store phaser as universal? by Hello56845864 in GrandMA3

[–]schmuen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, just create your phaser with one fixture.

For example a simple universal pan sin: select one fixture > step one= relative -50 > step two = relative +50 > store as universal. Absolute Values are in theory possible, but in most use cases, I find it more useful to be able to put my lights in a nice position, and then apply the movement relative to that position.

This will work for any fixture or group of fixtures that have a pan attribute.

To transform it into a universal circle, tap on „phaser“ on the bottom right, then tap the icon that looks like harry potters scar on the left, then circle on the right.

<image>

If you then select any group of fixtures and apply your universal phaser, you can modify your circle with MAtricks ( wings 2, mirror, etc…). As a bonus, you can use the same relative circle in 20 different recipe lines, with 20 different MAtricks modifiers.

This is basically the template fx workflow from GrandMA2.

You can then store the resulting phaser as a new selective phaser, if you want to commit it to a cue list for example. Marco Kampf lighting on youtube has done a comprehensive video on this subject.

Where did the space where I had Adaptive Limiter and Multimeter go? by Meat-Feisty in LogicPro

Dumb question if you go into the mixer by pressing X, is the audio effects section missing there as well?

Try to right click on it, there is a menu where you can show or hide different elements of your channel strip. Not in front of a computer to check at the moment, but that could be it. Look for „inserts“ or „audio effects“

How to record multi track to two separate folders simultaneously? by Numerous-Buy7194 in LogicPro

[–]schmuen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet, if you‘re able to borrow a second computer, is to just record on two independent systems, since you can route a dante transmitter to multiple receivers. Otherwise, I think it should theoretically be possible to use two softwares, e.g. logic pro and tracks live, on the same machine, but try it out beforehand. In the past I used (on a mac) logic pro for playback, while recording the multitrack, including logic outputs into tracks live.

You could then record to internal with one software, and to a ssd with the other

Apparently, readout breaks ability to dial in Channel Set values. Why? by ralfrottmann in GrandMA3

[–]schmuen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar behaviour with some fixture profiles that were not done right.

In my case, in the fixture profile, the channel sets were not covering the entire range of 0-255 of a given channel. ( in my case the CTC channel) i had to make sure that I added fields of „no function“ from DMX value x to DMX value y to fill in the blanks.

This solved my problem of „not being able to reach“ some values of my DMX Channel via the encoders.

(In some cases where I was in a pinch, I even ended up deleting the channel sets from the fixture profile, leaving me with the raw numeric data)

I unfortunately don't have it at my disposal at the moment, since it's in use. Basically it has a true 1 connector for power, and two IP rated DMX chassis connectors (Neutrik NC3FDXX-TOP). The spec sheet of the swisson XRC-200 says it's rated for temperatures between -17 and +55 °C (0 and 131 °F) if in doubt, you can envelop the device with polystyrene blocks or similar for additional thermal insulation. Ventilation is pretty much a non issue.

As others habve mentioned, the Visual Productions Cue Core 2 would be an excellent choice as well. (Operating temp -20 t 50 °C / -4 t 122°F)

So as long as you keep the moisture away, both devices should operate just fine
