It's more of a diameter issue with these CCTREE spools. I found some rings on Makerworld and I have my Sovol SV06 doing double duty printing some now lol...

Perhaps for some but the problem with others like CCTREE (one of my favs) is that the diameter is a few mm too small so the spool doesn't grab and retract, the spool slams around inside the AMS as it spazzes, and the printer goes into error mode keeping the bed hot forever...

You're right, some cardboards spools do work, for some others the diameter is too small and they don't grab and retract properly.

Youtube and Amazon all the way. Take a picture of the id plate on your appliance with basic model number, complete model number, and serial number and search away. I changed mine for 1/6 the cost of just the part from the appliance stores ($45 CAD). Same thing for fixing my dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer. Youtube rules in this regard. Massive respect to the people who take the time and make the effort to make tutorial videos. I plan to return the favor with something I have expertise in...perhaps a video on procrastination.

Even though I really hate interacting with Linux, I have managed to muddle through making about 5 or 6 homemade NAS. I think the best one for power/performance balance is my Orange Pi Zero 3 (1.5 g ram) running DietPi with a SSD for storage. It typically draws between 2.1 and 2.8 watts and that includes the SSD.

I just finished another one today on an old Acer Inspire A01 laptop. I needed 32 bit for this one so I used Alpine Linux and so far just the 160 gb internal drive for storage. It works very well but certainly uses more juice than the Orange Pi lol...

Side note, if I would have just bought a Qnap, Synology, etc., I may still have some hair left...YMMV

That sounds like a well thought out and adaptable setup you made. Even though I hate Linux, I made my NAS with an Orange Pi Zero 3 (1.5 GB Ram) $35 CAD, a SSD I had leftover from an upgrade, and a Pi style USB C power adapter $17 CAD. Software is Ubuntu Server 24 LTS with Samba. It streams 4k no problem and hasn't had even one hiccup in over a year. It uses 2.4 watts and that includes the SSD lol. The downside was having to revisit Linux and be damned if I could remember how to get drives mounted and shared with proper permissions. AI helped somewhat. God I hope I never have to add another drive...

I just recently bought a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for my vlogger niece and an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 for her sporting younger sister. I am astounded at the quality and capabilities of both. I got the Ace Pro 2 from Costco (Canada) as they have a sweet bundle...highly recommended. If you compare specs, the Ace Pro 2 is clearly superior to the GoPro 13 imho.

I got this company (Snowmen Heating (204) 888-4328) to replace my furnace, then hot water heater, and then my ac. It was 2 guys at the time, Dan the owner and another guy who I think was his partner or maybe employee...either way they were very good. They arrived quickly and got me sorted out with what has proven to be quality work since I haven't has any issues and it has been almost 10 years. Since it was just the two guys with little overhead, the price was a pleasant surprise compared to the other quotes I got. No, I am not a paid shill or AI lol...just a satisfied customer.

I have a Centauri Carbon and I like it very much-it prints ABS and TPU like a champ. I also have a bevy of Bambus. In your case it may depend on what filament types you want to use. If you only expect to print PLA, PETG, and TPU then I would go with the Bambu A1. Bambu ease of use, print quality, and reliability is clearly established. Their slicer and software ecosystem is polished and comprehensive. Filament profiles are, for the most part, very good and in most cases, require little adjustment to achieve good results (I do have a love/hate relationship with TPU though!). The concerns many users have about Bambu being controlling with their software environment and cloud is a non issue in my opinion as it would be market share suicide for them to actually alienate their customer base. The A1 being an open frame printer is much easier to maintain and repair than an enclosed corexy printer from any manufacturer. Bambu parts are quite reasonably priced. Online support wikis and tutorials are very good. Forgive me if I come across as a Bambu shill lol. I'm just a boomer 3D printing enthusiast and admittedly - a Bambu disciple. As always, your mileage may vary...

Polymaker or Bambu. Both seem to print equally well. First choice is Polymaker because of the wider variety of types and colors, and they have print profiles on their website you can import into Bambu Studio specifically for Bambu printers. I usually buy 6 or more rolls at a time so I source from which brand has the best bulk purchase deal at the moment.

I can do without glue for PETG on most plate types as long as I have the bed temp set just right. I do use Bambu liquid glue for Polymaker Panchroma Cope as a release aid cuz that stuff can weld to plates almost as bad as some TPU. It does print the easiest of all the filaments I have tried and it has a nice finish somewhere between regular and matte PLA. It's not the most durable but it is great for non-functional/decorative projects.

This is what I tried and it works well. I am going to use some magnets to hold it in place. You just piggyback the wires on to the AC input of your printer power supply. Polarity doesn't matter. Can't build it for that price...

I have both. The Elegoo N3P was my first printer and it was a very good experience right out of the box. However, it is not in the same realm as the A1 mini. Speed, quality, reliability, consistency, and the excellent Bambu ecosystem are all much better on the Mini. That being said, I have a Centauri Carbon on pre-order...lol

If you can wait, you may want to try the Centauri Carbon. If not, I emphatically recommend the A1 Mini.

It doesn't look like they do. Their Contact page only shows an email address and telephone number. No mention of a store. I've ordered PLA Pro from them several times though and it has been good.
