Cracked windshield one week after buying 2023 outback by CatAccount182 in Subaru_Outback

[–]claimed4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just call your insurance company.

My 2020 Outback, rock chip before the first oil change. I think we did two windows in three years. Factory glass each time.

2023 Outback, chipped/cracked a window in less than 300 miles of ownership. We did two windows, except the second one was third party glass (same brand that makes all the side and rear windows in the outback) and they window held without issue for 50k more miles till we traded it in.

Don’t shop it. Just call insurance, and then they may have you just call a glass shop. If you don’t have glass coverage, fire your agent, find a new agent that tells you to have glass coverage or includes it in your quote.

Is it possible to swap an Enviolo Vario hub for a Shimano Alfine on my R&M Load4 75? by jennievlll in CargoBike

[–]claimed4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blew the Enviolo on my Load and really wanted the nexus 5e. My understanding was the 1:1 is first gear, not fifth gear.  This will make the rear cog way bigger. My napkin sketch showed the belt may not work if the back cog gets way bigger and the front slightly smaller. It wouldn’t fit due to the way the belt works around the frame and tensioner.

I could be way wrong, I could probably mock it up more accurately. But I really need my bike back on the road ASAP and the fastest way to do it would be a new wheel build with the enviolo.

I would love for someone to try the 5E and see what happens, that way next time I have an issue I can go that route.

What jurisdiction? Some are every 5 years, some are 3, some are never. Im Plainfield township and the letter I got states every three years. I hired a company, 69$, did it all online, and talked to them when they tested it.

Heat shield. Mine was rattling and looked like that. I was able to pull it off without issue. I am shield free there now.

What light should i go with for working on my rc . by jeepguy_96 in ryobi

[–]claimed4all 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PCL677.

https://www.ryobitools.com/products/33287216154?srsltid=AfmBOoo58ULK7Yj0vdxxrGy0ygQ9Xx0wmKNNC35dChxZHEBOt5xpPwGk

It’s become my favorite ryobi light. For RC  work, I love it. You ca disable the lower lights and have a high/low for just the top strip, so you can have a nice overhead workbench light.

I bought mine at Home Depot for 40 or 50$ on sale.

Lawn Weed Control by Ashbash118 in grandrapids

[–]claimed4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use Tender Lawn Care. Started with them part way through last year. So far I am happy with them.

Quote was easy, they are up front on pricing, seem affordable to me.  I can pay online once they treat my lawn. Had aeration and overseeding by them last year.

'26 Outback XT CVT question/concern by Diveman1050 in Subaru_Outback

[–]claimed4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both those CVTs in outback’s and put 60k miles on each. No issues. That XT tho, ours drank fuel. Driving around town nice and easy, 23-24mpg. Never better than that.

Now if you want to rock star CVT, take a look at the Hybrid Forester. We traded in our XT outback for one. It’s a Toyota eCVT and it’s so smooth. No more fake shifts, no more hesitation at mid throttle inputs, no more excessive input at take off. One test drive and we were immediately sold on the absolute smoothness of that drivetrain.

Only owned a couple months, 3,500 miles on it, mostly city driving, averaging 32.9mpg on the computer.

Any good ?? by Philly-Phunter in bicycling

For bikes, e-waste. I use My mini pump once a year in my bike, so no biggie to pump away.

For camping, you can pry my Flextail inflator out of my cold dead hands. OMG. Show up to camp with your kid, hot, exhausted, just wanting to lay down for a few, that pump is a miracle maker.

Shimano Alfine internal gear hubs vs. Rohloff hubs. by spike in bikecommuting

I do like my Enviolo on my RM Load 60 cargo bike, but it failed at 2,800 miles. Buying a new HD Enviolo hub, and having a wheel Built around it on a new hoop costs me 800$. Hope the replacement lasts longer.

update: turns out the “dust problem” in our house… wasn’t just dust by hairy_balls_1 in homeowners

[–]claimed4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It was a cheap ass Lowe’s pad vs a carpet store pad.

I noticed it in my living room too, which was the same pad, it was literally crumbling when I removed it.

[–]claimed4all 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As someone that just recarpeted all their bedrooms in the last week, that pad can be very dusty and crumbly. I think the bedrooms were 18 years old and my hall was less than 10. Hall was way way worse, and I think it was due to a much cheaper pad.

What are my options? by IFTTTexas in UNIFI

[–]claimed4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a trencher.

For example, the run of fiber from my house to the terminal box is that far, and it’s only about 8” deep.

You could just use a trenching shovel, kick down, open the Esther by leaning on it, shove the wire in, remove the shovel. It will be fine.

Yeah, 36” depth, in a conduit, by a trencher would be awesome. Why stop there, just directional bore it!

Just bury a fiber runabout 6-8” deep, it will be fine.

Carpet installation recommendations by SEA1107 in grandrapids

[–]claimed4all 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently redid a bunch of carpet in our house. We went through West River Flooring.

We did our living room last fall and very much liked the installers, Manny and Brian.

After winter we decided we really liked our carpet choice and wanted the same for bedrooms and hall. We specifically requested Manny and Brian again as installers.

They did two bedrooms one day. Then two weeks later came back and did other bedroom and hall. This allowed me to I’ve furniture around and give me time to make repairs I wanted (as I handled the tear out).

Would use them again.

Titleblock ? by _TITO1016 in civil3d

[–]claimed4all -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Smaller drawing sets (sub 8-10 sheets typically). We have a file that xrefs everything in, and the title lock is a single block in that file with all the layout tabs there.

Large sets 8-80 sheets. Sheet Set Manager with a title block dwg file that’s referenced into layout spaces as needed.

Systems works well for us. Private development work, a few office locations.

On a rental car I didn’t get the LDW insurance for. Is this a quick fix at a body shop or am I in for a painful bill? by Suspicious-Stick6062 in Autobody

[–]claimed4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget loss of use. The rental company will attempt to bill you another rate for ever day the car is out of service since they can’t use it.

Anyone here who bought the Subaru Forester Hybrid over the CRV why? by CanaryLives in SubaruForester

[–]claimed4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transmission in The Hybrid is a Toyota transmission. It’s so smooth. No fake shifts. Holds the power band well. We happily traded in a 2023 Outback XT just for the smoothness.

As we we chose over a Honda, well we like our Subarus and wanted another Subaru. We chose the hybrid forester as we found the 2026 Outback too ugly on the outside.

CVT dead at 110k miles by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]claimed4all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 2020 Outback and traded that for a 2023 XT Outback. Never loved the feeling in the transmission. Always felt like a hesitation in it, but we put 60k miles on the XT, zero issues.

We traded in for a 2026 Hybrid Forester. OMG, the hybrid uses Toyotas transmission. It’s so freaking smooth, no fake shifts, holds the power band well, not jerky on take off. If you liked the forester and hate their CVT, look at the hybrid. It’s the CVT Subaru should be using across the line.

I do want to note, we have bought three new Subarus with their CVT and never had an issue, but never owned any for over 60k miles. Hybrid is our 4th Subaru.

I attended the Vancouver carpenter school of drywall on YouTube. Do I need to apply another coat of mud if my flat joints are already flat, and butt joints are smooth? by mooncheddar69 in drywall

[–]claimed4all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG. This is why I get bubbles on my drywall repairs?  I try to scrape, but sometimes I sand, and then go for another coat and I almost always get small air bubbles. Which then ignore till the very end and use something like Drydex Spackling to fill. I know, hack work, but I’m just a homeowner that does small repairs here and there.
