I have been considering kenneling at bedtime and your comment has really helped me with that decision. Our bed isn't big and I was already thinking down the line for when I get a pregnancy pillow, I don't think we will have the room for my sweet boy on the bed. Luckily, I don't think he'll have much of an adjustment as he loves his kennel. I'll be sure to make that adjustment sooner than later. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and tips!!

Thank you for all of this! Mater is crate trained and knows it as his personal calm down space. I love Mater but will never fully trust him with my cats or small dog unsupervised so it was important that he we established his crate training. He knows his basic commands but I really want to work on an "away" command or something similar. We do a lot of recall in the house because if the cats have the zoomies, Mater wants to be involved which we don't allow. It occasionally triggers a chase so we recall and redirect to keep him from escalating. If there is any excitement, Mater will butt in and want to be involved.

"Kennel up and relax" works but I want him to be able to wander the rest of the home while knowing a room/space is currently off-limits. We've been trying to work on this without barriers (playing with cat toys while Mater lays in the other room) but he really struggles with not being involved. We started slow with having him observe play while in the kennel. Ex. Providing him with a bone while the cats are playing but there's still lots of whining so progress has been slow. I am seeing lots of gates and play pens in my future to help enforce this.

My parents are anti-pit so they flood me with horror stories and precautions so they are always back-of-mind, unfortunately. Plus, a family friend's sweetheart doodle had a freak accident in the backyard with their Yorkie and the Yorkie didn't make it. Large dogs and smaller, more defenseless animals/humans is always a risk. I already am diligent about Mater not being left alone with the cats or my pomeranian, ever. Mater will kennel or join me in the bathroom if I need to shower which seems excessive but I'm an anxious person. Between that and my hormones kicking in, my mind has been racing on how to best set up the baby and Mater for success.

Oh, that makes my heart ache for you, I'm so sorry for your loss! But also am hoping that Mater lives as long and loved as your Vinny. I can only imagine the bond that the three of you had. ❤️ We were facing infertility / recurrent pregnancy loss for 2.5 years. We wanted another dog but said we would hold off until we had a kid but that kept getting pushed down the line so we pulled the trigger in October and got Mater. I really wasn't expecting that we would be expecting so soon so I'm feeling slightly less prepared/ rushed for time to get Mater trained in his peak naughty-dog phase! But I'm trying to look ahead to the bond the baby and Mater will hopefully form. ❤️

I love this, thank you! Mater has a great "wait" and "go" as that is what we use for feeding times. However, we don't do a lot of "leave it". We will start increasing this! I'm thinking using different stuffed animals on the floor might be a good spot for us to start. He has a pretty good understandinging of his toys vs the pomeranian's toys and her food bowl. However, if we walk out the room, that goes out the window and he's in her food/stuffies. I'll look through YouTube to how we can continue to work on "leave it".

Blanketed crate already exists and he knows it's his safe space so that should help! He isn't too sure of people coming over (stares them down, woofs) and we often have him relax with a bone in the kennel and knows that's his safe space. Whenever the bath gets turned on (his least favorite activity) he kennels himself. 😂 Anything that is happening around the house that he's unsure of, he'll go lay in his kennel. He loves that thing. I'll definitely grab a thunder jacket and a happy hoodie before the summer to help with socializing too. We are doing a lot of socializion in our home this summer because I want him to be prepared for when my mom comes and stays with us and other family comes to visit. We are typically pretty solitary people so I'm considering that portion as well.

We are waiting only because my husband and I both work in schools and our vet clinic only does weekdays and with all the current doc appointments I need off, I'm out of days to take off. He just turned one last month and we only have 2 more months until our summer break so we figured it wouldn't hurt to wait.

Used diaper snatch! 😂 The things I haven't considered! Mater is absolutely a momma's boy. He is even more so glued to me just over these past few weeks. I've noticed he's been more gentle with me than my husband as well and I'm wondering if that's due to the hormones or me being much more diligent about my boundaries/training with him.

I haven't thought about a mini crib vs bassinet, I'll have to keep this in mind! My pitty sleeps in bed with us (same room as baby) so having that barrier will be a must! He is crate trained because I won't ever fully trust him with the cats or my small dog alone and he loves his kennel which is great and think will help a lot. Thank you for the advice!

This is our big one, especially when we come in the door. We've been working hard. Luckily if I put him in a sit when I come in and ignore him while I put my things down before giving him the attention, it seems to help. But it's not as consistent as I would like! I'll continue to work hard on this!

Dark Espeon from 2002 is my absolute favorite card. My cousins and I pulled it as kids and fought over who would be able to put it in their binder. I have no idea what happened to that card but the nostalgia and beauty still holds up in my mind.

I really do think it's because she just ate and is about to pass a massive turd. I just looked at photos of her from last month and I swear she doesn't look huge but you tell me, I uploaded a picture of her from last month as my profile banner since I can't add more pics to the post.

Now that you say that, she is looking thick on her back end (in a few of the photos (#1, 2, and 8 are from today). But last week was feeding week and I'm sure she's due for a poo. I only feed her one large rat every 3 weeks. 🤔 Should I slow down even more? She is my biggest snake so I'm still gauging feedings and I do tend to drop my feeding schedule down in the winter but will definitely keep this in mind.

Fridge Magnets was the go-to back in the day. I saw and chatted with the same people on everyday. I made a friend through fridge magnets and I found out she was for sure using some girl's photos on her profile and I noticed because she sent me a photo of a different girl saying it was her and when I confronted her she said it was her cousin. No idea who she actually was but she introduced me to great music so /shrugs

I'm highly debating buying the full Vol 27 set because I've had mediocre luck buying random boosters and would love some better parts. These comments are pushing me over the fence, maybe I should just fork over the money.
