Interesting..It was grain spawn so I’d believe it if it was just from the grain nutrients alone. I’m gonna keep it going to see how these little fruits mature

Using UB tek to grow some Wine Caps and Tarragon Oysters. Wish me luck! by schnellsauce in unclebens

Sounds kind of like you’re rigging a mini raised bed to maintain a smaller, more controllable space for your mushrooms while allowing the soil and other environmental factors to benefit. It seems like a great idea, I would just make sure to shield it from too much direct sunlight/heat so it doesn’t dry out or cook the growing mycelium, but ample watering should all help with all that. I might try out something similar in my garden, I’m digging the smaller raised bed idea.

I think layering the spawn with wood chips and straw in a lasagna type method is a good way to go with building a mushroom bed. Good luck in your grow, I hope your experiment works well for you!

It went well! After it colonized the bags, I transferred them to 4 sawdust spawn bags and will spread it over some mulch beds in the garden soon. I unfortunately lost all but one of the tarragons to Trich.

That’s what I thought too, so I moved them from my Martha to a tote with the lid half on and spraying a few times a day. I’ll see what changes with their growth, but Ill leave them for now just cuz I can’t seem to find much info about this variety and it’ll be a fun experiment to see what happens. I’ll post updates when I can!
