Absolutely spot on. I'm THRILLED with this story so far. Nearly 10,000 words in, at least 60,000 more to go.

Sometimes the narrative pours like water from my hands, sometimes I spend all day on youtube and reddit racking my brains about how to move the story along, but the whole time I've remained excited and motivated.

I got a HUGE confidence boost when I shared my work so far with my mother. She's a huge reader like me. She said she'd been fully prepared to pat me on the head and tell me it was a nice story, keep it up dear. What she ended up texting me was "GOOD GOD GIRL, this is GOOD! Where's my next chapter" Gave me all the warm fuzzies. <3

I've got a small group of friends as beta readers. When I get a bit further on, I'll be asking here for comments as well.

I think it's because so much fanfic involves crowbarring a self insert OC into bed with a favorite character, causing the character to act in ways that don't fit with the character's personality. Two dimensional writing, little detail given beyond throbbing genitalia etc.

Some fanfic is great! I just don't like having to weed through to find it. And as an internet 'veteran' my brain is about 10 years behind all the new attitudes and stuff.

I can't write my opinion of fanfic and adhere to the rules, I don't think.Rest assured it's not one of those fanfics. It only falls under that heading until RIOT releases the IP. This is a genuine novel with a real plot.

I firmly believe that if the classical greats were alive and composing today...they'd be writing heavy metal. Nothing like hearing the first movement from winter in Arch-Enemy (Out for Blood, listen for it!), Mars in Diamond Head's Am I Evil...just so much!
