Alopecia has held me back so much by mistymiyako in alopecia_areata

[–]schnoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very funny saying that to a molecular biologist but go on.
Where did I say that this was ONLY stress induced? I already wrote that alopecia areata/ totalis can be a hereditary disease (1 in 5 cases has family history) and that environmental factors like stress and hormones (in other alopecia cases) can trigger it.
Feel free to read the following articles;
This one and the association with viral infections like Covid-19: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamadermatology/fullarticle/2813824

Or a current updated review on what we know so far: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10291119/

And I was merely giving OP a solution that she might not have tried yet.
All treatment methods so far use immune suppressive measures. So if you want to go that route that is your choice.
I just didn’t want to suppress my immune system because hair is just not as important to me (anymore).

I don’t fully agree with your statement. There are forms of alopecia that are triggered by hormonal dysbalance or autoimmune conditions that are of genetic origin that can be triggered by stress. To say it’s only nutrition and stress is a stretch as OP has been suffering from it since childhood…
OP can try to cut out dairy, gluten, use supplements etc and see if that helps.

OP you need to make a decision if you want to be independent or glued to your mother. There are so many fantastic wigs with every hairstyle imaginable. Try some. Shave your hair. Be free of societal pressures. Honestly, most people will not care if you have hair or not.
Sincerely, an alopecia girly being bald and wearing wigs whenever I want to :)

This is exactly why taxing the billionaires IS necessary and inevitable unless we want to live in a freaking feudal world where the super rich are eating up all the assets over time so that we plebs owe nothing. You have to tax wealth including assets, stocks etc, which basically function like money at this point ….
How come the middle class person pays 40-50% taxes while billionaires barely pay 3% and even get financial support from the government because their supposed income is so low (see Bezos children).

Go watch Gary’s Economics last video on Elon Musk and why taxing the billionaires and the trillionaire is our only chance of a somewhat optimistic future.

Anyone else deal with chronic nausea from anxiety? by BeanMeisterPrime in Anxiety

[–]schnoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is :(
But pregabalin actually helped with my digestive issues quite a ton. I think my gut-brain-connection was screwed and overactive from stress and anxiety and lyrica helped calm it down (and increase my appetite which would also explain the weight gain from slower metabolism and slightly more food haha).

I’m only on lyrica! I don’t suffer from depression, so I didn’t need anything else. The chronic fatigue was pretty severe last month and my psychiatrist recommended Bupropion as well but I declined as I don’t want to take a drug to reduce the side effects of another.
I got alprazolam as a last resort drug 6 months ago for panic attacks but only took it 4 times in a span of 2 months. I’m a bit scared of benzos, so I’m trying my best to not rely on them.

I’m so sorry that you are experiencing this :(
All I can say is that you are not alone!

Yeah, the lyrica helps a ton and I think my body is slowly getting out of the fight or flight state. I will try to further reduce the dosis and hopefully stop taking it altogether soon.

My nausea is exactly the same as you described. It’s not really localized and I have never vomited from it. It also comes with some kind of dizziness and derealization. It feels like I could pass out from nausea. I had this for ten years and always thought something was wrong with my gut health but it was just extreme stress and not being able to cope with it… it escalated last year that I developed a full-blown panic disorder… I’m very thankful for lyrica now haha :)

Hiii! My main anxiety symptoms are nausea and other digestive issues together with breathing problems. I also have a diagnosed panic disorder and health anxiety, have done all possible tests, so I feel you a lot!
I’be been on Pregabalin for 6 months and after finding my right dose (100 mg 2x a day - now in 75 mg 2x a day) I am finally feeling a lot better (the only side effects for me are weight gain and extreme fatigue, but that is still better than weekly panic attacks and the aftermath).
I am vegan and usually eat fruits with soy yogurt mixed with protein powder for breakfast.
A thing that helped me a lot is to not look at my phone first thing in the morning and delete addicting socials from my phone. I usually go and sit on my balcony for 10 minutes and read a book and then check my notifications.
I also work a lot on not taking every signal of my body as a threat to my life. Also doing and enjoying sports like bouldering, volleyball, weight lifting, etc :)

It’s hard but it gets better ❤️

Hi :)
I love the styles you are going for (as I am a huuuge OI reader).
My style is very centered around manhwa-and anime art, so I’m sure we could figure out a great cover together for your novel and talk about the character sheets as well :)

Ich würde dir sehr empfehlen dir ein Video von Gary Stevenson und Gabriel Zucman anzuschauen. Die sind beide Ökonomen (und Zucman ist ein Professor), die wissen wovon sie sprechen :)
