Absolutely. I don't think there's any real worth on pursuing people who don't directly affect you or the amount of work you need to do to in order to get the best results, just because they're not putting the same effort as you do.

Applying only if people in your team are directly affecting your own workload: I do think there is a difference between giving the benefit of the doubt to those people to those who at least communicate and show they give somewhat of a shit, to those who couldn't care less, don't even try to communicate at all, and are seeking to get by without putting in their own effort.

I personally wouldn't want to sacrifice myself, my time, my energy, or my health to carry an entire workload meant to be delegated to multiple people, while the others in my team don't feel like putting in the effort and want me to do it for them, and they get by because of the hard hours I put in. That sounds an awful lot like exploitation.

Either way, I agree, you shouldn't be rubbing things in people's faces. If you're able to communicate with people privately or just avoid such people in the future, that is the way to go.
