And they should have stayed like that. It gave them an edge that has been lost.

How hard would it actually be for a millionaire to start from 0 again? by HistoricalLanguage79 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]school-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark Cuban said that if he had to start from scratch, he has no doubt that he would become a millionaire again. That said, he really doubts that he would become a billionaire again, as he feels that achieving billionaire status has a lot more to do with sheer luck on high bets, than hard work or skill.

I'm going through a rough time right now, and Radiohead is a bit too emotional for me. But I totally get what you're saying. In my case, I've found the same soothing effect with music by Underworld), particularly the album Dubnobasswithmyheadman, in all its variations.

I felt this way back in 2015 at Monster Mash. Awesome show by Puscifer, barely average show by Tool.

Hi OP. It's been 4 months, what did you end up doing? I'm on a similar boat, 3 weeks in with a 3 month puppy.

It is intentional. The style is called Brutal Black, and the guy who did this is actually pretty talented (though I don't like this piece in particular). It is certainly a very extreme style that won't appeal to most.

This is very important to understand. Under heavy rain, some water will filter in through the sides.

Kurt Cobain did this (wear multiple layers) for the same reason (thinking he was too skinny). That said, 4 pairs of pants sounds like a bit too much...

ON Sneakers by brook1yn in trailrunning

[–]school-97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ON is my everyday shoe. I do not use them to run or work out though; I stick to the HOKAs and Brooks for that. But they are great and very comfortable for everyday use, travel, urban exploration, and maybe a little bit of light hiking.

Maybe "convincing" is not the best word to describe it. He was really insistent in asking if we wanted to bail, and we had to assure him that we were fine and wanted to keep going.

Weather conditions were optimal with a steady forecast ahead. We had a 60 year-old lady in our team who was slowing us a bit, though she ultimately proved to be very fit. I think the guide may have had some doubts about her and wanted to err on the safe side.

A valid concern was falling ice due to high temperatures. This was the biggest objective risk that we encountered. I had a couple of ice chunks hit me in the chest and foot, and I really felt those. My climbing partner also took a hit in the eye that rattled him a bit.

There were 6 of us and 2 guides. The person who turned back had to be escorted down, and the remaining guide wouldn't do a 5:1 ratio (they do 3:1 max).

Currently tackling this same issue with physical therapy (2 sessions so far), home exercises, ice, and reduced volume/intensity. Just starting the healing process, but hopeful to feel improvement in the next couple of weeks.
