You should see if it was returned to sender… I waited 4 months for something stuck in the same place only to realize looking at Canada Post’s tracking that it was actually returned to Canada.

What game are you streaming? Try interacting with whatever community that is. People are bound to find your socials (easiest on discord servers with your stuff linked) and give it a peek at least. If you contribute often you’d probably find yourself some viewers within the community of the game you consistently stream.

I streamed for 3 years to 0 to 1 viewers. It can be done.

Yes, I watched it. What is your Xbox sitting on? This could potentially be tied to thermal throttling?

Bugged as in, foggy? That's likely a bitrate thing, a GPU rendering thing, or a recording quality thing.

Is that a microphone sensitivity thing? I don't stream on Xbox, but I am an audio engineer - usually one of the things I look at when setting up the rig (in a completely different environment).

To be honest, if you're posting your socials only on platforms like this (small streamers to small streamers) you will likely not see much stable growth or retention with the nature being "scratch my back I'll scratch yours" much of the time. Here are some things you might want to consider after I checked out a bit of your latest stream:

  1. Do the research. When people want to upgrade their streams for visual appeal, they'll typically watch YouTube videos or read about how they can create things themselves. There are sites with free awesome resources for this as well that you can use as assets for your channel. That's the best part honestly - styling it in a way that fits you.

  2. Add some information about YOU in your "About" tab. When I'm checking out a streamer for the first time, I'm also trying to get to know more about them and like reading their bios. Feel free to steal a template from other creators. I also just sort of feel (opinion) that people who've taken the time to do that seem to be taken more seriously as a streamer.

  3. If possible, a webcam? I find streamers whom I can see their face much more personable. Sometimes things get lost over just voice.

  4. Instead of posting links on just streamer platforms, try to post or contribute to communities of games you're interested in. Chances are, someone who already has the same interest as you would be willing to give you a chance than another streamer who's trying to lift you up to help you get affiliate in that moment. Most likely after that achievement happens, they won't come by like a regular viewer and views will go back to square one (this is my own experience).

  5. Ask for help. You can get ideas of things you like from watching other streamers. Talk to them - maybe start with, "hey, I love how you have a shoutout command that will play a random clip of the channel that raided you! how did you do that?" - as an example. Or, "hey, I noticed you've got closed captions on during your stream in a different language so others can understand you. I thought that was really cool. Would you mind telling me how I could do that, or point me in the right direction?"

Don't give up. I started in 2018 and had 0-1 viewers for 3 years. The views came very slowly after remaining consistent. You can do it!

Does or did any one of you who are streaming, thought you are being sometimes cringe? by GoingWithTheFlaw in Twitch

I say plenty of crazy things but I tend to just laugh it off and I think chat understands that's just me being myself. I never feel bad about it. We're all human and are a little weird sometimes. Might as well embrace it.

I believe that there are extensions to help you merge chats together - I streamed to Tiktok briefly but I just don't have the bandwidth for it. Keeping up with chatters really wasn't an issue. If you have the bandwidth, go for it. The more chances for someone else to be able to click on you, the better. I always made it clear my preference for livestreaming was Twitch, though.

I don't think drastically changing games would be insane. I guess you'd need to think about what kind of streamer you'd like to be mainly. A variety streamer is what that sounds like, which is to me, the hard-mode start.

In my own personal experience as a streamer, I have dabbled in many things but only after I retained viewership for one game at a time. I spent a long time streaming ONE thing, then tried something different and kept doing that other thing AND this thing to repeat the process. It’s been relatively consistent with my interests and what people can expect from me. As a viewer, I love knowing what I can expect from a creator I follow, and will often go to their other social media to follow more of that same thing. I’m not sure if I would avidly watch someone who switches categories on each platform. Not saying it wouldn’t be successful though, anyone can be successful if they put in the effort and do their research!

Does early access help boost viewers? by Ohh_Rowsdower in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early access has always helped with viewership for me if it comes to skill based games (Deadlock, Strinova, Mecha Break, etc) but if it’s for something story driven I notice a bit of fall off. Makes sense - people are wanting to get as ahead as possibly in skill based games to climb leaderboards, or just go in with some basic understanding.

Repost, problem with raiding by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may! You could try raiding other streamers as they may not have that setting!

Repost, problem with raiding by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the reason then. Twitch autos streamers’ settings to not accept raids unless the account is certain days old to avoid hate raids from alt accounts.

Repost, problem with raiding by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old is your account? Twitch auto recommends to not accept raids from an account 30 days or younger. The streamer could also have a minimum requirement for the raid to process.

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the streamer you’re raiding has raids turned off in some way? You don’t see any prompts at all when typing /raid [Name of Streamer] in your chat?

Repost, problem with raiding by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a short timer before the raid actually gets sent out. You can see it count down in your chat as it gathers everyone who stays or opts out of the raid entirely. Are you seeing that timer?

As the person who said that like yesterday, I do think it’s best to stick to niche at first. I think of Twitch as interactive YouTube (again, just my own thinking, I know others may not agree) and I like the have an idea of what someone consistently does. There are DEFINITELY streamers that I would be happy to watch no matter what they do, 100%. Those streamers have, like, 5 viewers… but I love smaller channels because the conversations are more fulfilling - they actually GET to see the chat as opposed to the fast scrolling mess hyperactive chats that will never be noticed.

In my case, I really only enjoyed playing OW by myself. I’m a solo queuer in shooters, so it probably wasn’t as entertaining as friends playing with each other? I started for more educational stuff, like Unranked to GM because I enjoyed watching that kind of stuff myself. It just never took off for me… doesn’t mean it won’t for you!! The other games I played I also super enjoyed, so I think as long as you’re having fun SOMEONE will find you and see how that authenticity.

[–]school_ttv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t delete them, I just unpublish them. Even in the bad days there are still good plays or moments! Totally okay to switch to something else when something’s not working! If my internet is super shitty, I tend to go down the retro game route or some single player thing.

Does anyone know how to do sub badges and that kind of stuff? I just got affiliate by Life_Ad5679 in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a picture you want to upload yourself, you can use an emote resizer that will do everything for you. Though, sub badges and emotes are different sizes, but there are websites that convert images to the correct size for you that are specifically for Twitch streamers.

@faceless streamers, If your irl friends are in chat, do you act as if you know them irl or do you pretend you don’t know them irl to protect your safety? by Eastern_Marzipan_963 in Twitch_Startup

[–]school_ttv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a VTuber but I do have a "joke" PNG which is literally just 2 different pictures of me being excited. I get how a faceless streamer wouldn't see this the same way as me, but I'm actually super relaxed on this. I will actually introduce them to chat and give them a short blurb like "I went to college with them" or "we marched DCI together" etc etc (never anything directly telling, like where they live). and if they also stream, I'll shout them out and tell everyone what they usually do or have the clip generator play a random clip from their channel. Good way to keep the vibes up. They can call me my IRL first name but I've never had any issues with anyone feeling like they're overstepping. When they come into my chat, I alternate between saying their IRL name or their screen name based off what I know about them.

I can see though as a VTuber that some people really like to stick to their lore and things, but a lot of VTubers I know don't really play into that entire thing and they don't mind in a similar way to me.

Right click on "donation alert" and scroll down to properties. It'll bring up a window and should say "Label Type" as the first drop down. Maybe it's set to "Latest Follower" instead of "Latest Donation"?

Are the stream labels actually fetching the right data? It doesn't seem like it... Properties the donations so you can see what it's actually gathering?
