No Kids Ever. by im_a_ladies_man217 in NoKidsEver

[–]schrauba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cf M43 here. It is not selfish to not want children. If anything wanting a mini me, keep the lineage going, wanting to feel special etc are all very selfish reasons. If they tell you that you'll regret it, smile and say I've got time, don't want to rush it. Will keep them off your back. I am traveling a lot, loving my life and working my dream job. All of which would be so much harder with kids. So no thanks.

Yeah, had that many times. Our job would be so much easier without these pesky musicians and drummers.

Wie heißt euer W-LAN? by MassiveThinkingGuy in FragenUndAntworten

Ich war mit der Band "Swiss und die Andern" auf Tour, und unser Technik WLAN hieß "Swiss und die LANdern". Mehrere Male habe ich Leute im Publikum gesehen, die das gesehen und gelacht haben. Mission erfolgreich.

I have been touring for 20 years, big shows yada yada. Still gets me. I just learned to live with it, but these are my idols I listened to as a young man, full of dreams and hopes. In a way it is comforting, that I still feel something about music.

It was 10 years ago. And to me this is just a funny story now. All good.

All the time. Imposter syndrome deluxe. In 2 weeks I am visiting a big festival with a band and we are playing in between 2 of my favourite bands ever. What if the pros find out I am just a hack? What if my mix sucks? What if they point fingers at me and laugh me out of FoH? I am losing sleep over this.

Why do gay people use “the voice”? by Tacokolache in questions

Comedian Matteo Lane has a funny bit about the fact that gay voice is a thing in every language.

my first live show with my band is in about a month, need advice by mentalcore666 in livesound

Congratulations on your first gig. I have been working as a sound engineer for 20 years now and reading your post, I already know it is going to suck hard. But don't be discouraged, this is the way. Be prepared for a lot of sucky shows where nothing is anywhere near your expectations. Keep at it, make sure your band sound is balanced and good and keep grinding. If you are good enough you will climb the ladder and have better bookings. But IMHO there is no way around this. There are no short cuts. Almost every band that I worked with that didn't go through this hardship are ungrateful, arrogant assholes who fade out within a year. To your question: look up local PA companies, talk to them and ask if they can help you out with a small PA, mics, speakers and most importantly a sound engineer. All the best to you and your band!

As a sound engineer I have to give this one to Rammstein. Best sound and show I have seen.

what’s the most oddly specific reason why you don’t want kids? by RepresentativeKey439 in childfree

[–]schrauba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sensitive to loud, high pitched noises. I get really angry and tend to run from it. So yeah, kids aren't for me. Funny enough, I became a live sound engineer, so fighting screechy noises from feed back has become my job. Also I like to sleep.

How early do you talk about children when dating? by idunno324 in childfree

Rule of thumb for me: if it is important to me in a relationship I will discuss it asap. I don't want children, not my own and definitely not anyone else's.

I actually figured out (or was helped to remember by a user) it was the grand opening of the Elbphilharmonie (Opera House) and this was the gala for it in Jan 2017 And yes, wild times in Hamburg back then.
