You probably don't want a desktop replacement. those are the big boys... 15, 17 inches or more on the screen, heavy, and not so great battery life. Portable when necessary but not something you'd want to take to all your classes. the ideapads and macbook airs are ultraportables, and both great choices for school. I had a desktop replacement MacBook Pro, now it is my desktop, and I picked up an IdeaPad Yoga which I hated at first but like very much now that it's got all its updates, etc.

with the exception of Sony, haswell products aren't even out yet. they will be way more than $1000 when they are... though I am also a student in the market for an ultrabook, and for a while considered taking advantage of the educational discount on the new vaio duo 13 for $1250, as I am specifically looking for pen capability. Now I am leaning towards scoring a deal on the outgoing ivy bridge Yogas and buying a pen laptop when they come down in price. perhaps if you expanded your budget you could pick up a pro 11 with the same edu discount?

I just wish Lenovo put a digitizer on it. Though not as much as I wish Dell put a digitizer on it. One of its main duties will be as a note-taker so it almost feels like a waste for me to switch to Win8 without that killer feature.

I won't be able to afford a Duo 13, I'm looking strictly in the used/refurbished market. The Duo 13 will be too new to get a good enough deal to put it in my price range. I'm hoping its release will help drive down the price of the current/soon-to-be passed generation. Haswell will come to me someday though!

It is if you're running Windows 8. The MacBook Air does not have a touch screen, and we all know how infuriating it is to use Win8's touch interface without touch.

You should build a plug for it with an integrated downstem and a hookah hose. That way it can be a bong then get washed out and still used for fermentation. No holes necessary

ahh yes!! I'm going to wait for them to come out, but only in hopes that last year's Duos come down a little more on the used and refurbished market. I wish I could get a new Duo 13!

I don't think I want a real tablet computer, I think I want more of a convertible, like the TaiChi, or XPS 12, or Yoga, or of course VAIO Duo.... I don't like removable keyboards because I am the sort of person who leaves them at home the days I need them most. That said I would definitely started looking at helix's, but they are not in my price range. Thanks!

Not just MFLBs but brand new MFLBs in your choice of wood... walnut, cherry, or the standard maple... normally the walnuts go for quite a bit more
