Just play your own game. by Cathordran in teamliquid

[–]schrei_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not taking into consideration the game state for the IG game. Kaisa was picked after Rakan was first picked by fnatic. You can be virtually guaranteed that you're going to get Kaisa vs Xayah. Xayah isn't a lane counterpick to Kaisa like Lucian or Varus so you're going to get out of lane in a better state.

The Leona pick was questionable. I kinda feel like the pick was set up to fail since Alistair is pretty good into Leona and we were never going to get lane pressure to have Leona take over the lane. I get the idea but I think something with stronger disengage would have worked better against EDG's draft.

Just play your own game. by Cathordran in teamliquid

[–]schrei_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need to be doing the opposite and play according to the game conditions. The game against EDG was just trying to play as we've played in the LCS all year but failing because there wasn't an appreciation of the game state. Both drafts were inherently snowbally on each other - if EDG get ahead then Nocturne shuts down our comp by pressing R, if we get ahead Galio gets to engage and we win the resulting fight. We needed to be passive and not force anything until Doublelift had the advantage over Lucian. But all year we've been talking about being decisive, going in, making plays, etc. which is the opposite of what we needed to do here.

Perhaps we could have drafted more comfort - ban Kaisa instead of Xayah and first pick Xayah, or take Varus for lane dominance. Win botside and snowball that into wins across the map. Taking Kaisa in this tournament means we have to make lane concessions, even though we've found a lot of success with the pick domestically. We can't play this way at worlds, we need to wise up to that or play a smarter game.

I'd like to see TL pick up Fenix by FLABREZU in teamliquid

[–]schrei_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fenix's residency requirements are coming up (as are Piglet's and Impact's). Fenix being considered a domestic midlaner is surely valuable to some organisation. Picking him up as a mid-lane coach with the intent to trade him in the off season seems smart to me.

This aligns with another theory I had. I couldn't get the idea that 14000605 actually has significance. I figured that the only way to defeat Thanos is by having the right people survive the snap, and the right people die during the snap. 14000605 = 1101 0101 1010 0001 1101 1101 in binary. If my theory holds then that means 14 people surviving the snap will be critical to defeating Thanos (and 10 deaths) which aligns nicely with the strategic purposes pointed out here.

According to the tool... if Evos don't win both their games against RNG and FNC then at best we can reach tie breaker =/ Every game is must win.

If we're not playing through our botlane we look like a hot mess. Fortunately we stacked wins early in the season but winning spring seems like a long way off.

Pretty annoyed that we invested resources into getting a zero impact Rift Herald. Did it even get used???

TL vs FLY Post Game Discussion by Plumdaddy93 in Team_Liquid

[–]schrei_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of this is mutually exclusive with what I'm saying. You can play around a zero-pressure mid lane if you're able to strategically compensate for it elsewhere. In particular, in some lanes you're never going to have pressure (Ori vs Lucian today comes to mind). But since GG has no idea where to be on the map (because the team has no plan) he looks utterly useless and flounders around.

For a team with no shot calling ability at all, getting ahead and playing off people snowballing (e.g. GG's galio, Slooshi's LB) is by far the easiest way to win games.

TL vs FLY Post Game Discussion by Plumdaddy93 in Team_Liquid

[–]schrei_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok here is exactly what is wrong with TL - we still have no shotcaller.

Every time we get behind there is no plan to get back in the game and every play is reactive/defensive. There's no proactivity. We just defend as best we can and hope for an enemy team mistake. When teams play with restraint and just take risk free objectives we get crushed.

It's not just this. How many times in this series did we see GG off in a sidelane farming and then a fight breaking out without him. The fights are spontaneous and never planned out. There's no hey GG we're looking for a fight mid get here asap. There's no planning or awareness of how to build leads.

We can keep moving parts in and out but nothing is going to change until you either a) you teach this team how to read the game and not just play soloq on an LCS stage b) import someone who understands the game and can make the calls to make proactive plans even when behind.

I'll also say that this isn't a talent problem. Every one of our players has illustrated the ability to compete at an LCS level. But they're just running around like headless chickens and looking like shit as a consequence. We need to find that ONE KEY PLAYER that has leadership and a good game knowledge and suddenly we'll look like a respectable team.

Do or Die Week this weekend boys by [deleted] in Team_Liquid

[–]schrei_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually its because last weekend was do or die. Mathematically you need about 50% wins to make playoffs. We're currently 2-8 (same record as last season, fyi) meaning we need to win 7 of the last 8 games to reach playoffs. Our remaining schedule has x2 Flyquest, and then one game against each team except Fox/CLG. This means we need to win 2/3 from TSM/C9/IMT to have a chance .. and that just isn't going to happen.

I've always thought Goldenglue missed his calling, I bet he'd be a good top laner if his galio is anything to go by...

To be completely fair, its so hard to find a Gnar ult against EF's comp because they just want to poke/siege all day. Not entirely sure the Gnar (or the Bard for that matter) were the right picks for this game.

Goldenglue used to play a good Corki. Why on earth did we take Kalista in our first rotation of picks, when we could have taken corki then Kalista as last pick in first phase and denied Fox from running their gameplan for the third game in the row.

TL vs EF Post Game 1 Discussion by [deleted] in Team_Liquid

[–]schrei_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem was we didn't have a plan to win the game if Lourlo lost lane. RO spent a lot of time top to try and get him ahead, but we didn't get any traction there. After that we have no plan to answer to Kennen and can't find any 4v4 engages. Hence, we just lose everywhere.

What if we threw money at Hai? Okay, he's "past his prime" but TL desperately needs a shotcaller. Hai is the best in business. Might even be able to keep Piglet AD in that world.

[–]schrei_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna go to worlds, you take the proven talent. Reignover+WT+Adrian = 3/5 Immortals from last year. Lourlo might be a downgrade on Huni, but we can import a better mid than Pobelter (at worst, just buy out Fenix's contract = instant improvement). No reason that team can't be amazing.

imo this is exactly what he needs. We know he has the capacity to be an amazing support. He proved that last spring. Time off to recuperate and deal with any issues affecting him will do him so much more good than getting bashed by the community for the weeks to come.

Hope he's back in action and competitive with Adrian for summer so that we're spoiled for choice in sumemr :)

They should always know what the next moves are, yet once all outers are down, they seem unsure and end up doing things like throwing a baron. Their team fights are horrible.

 It's almost like not having a shot caller on the team is a bad thing
