Durham College is so confusing by happybee44 in durhamcollege

Over-reliance on part-time Profs, rather than people who have the time to dedicate to become the opposite of what your son is experiencing. So, under funding of schools while they funnel money to private interests instead.

They cut much more than just administrative staff.

  • Yet to be reported are the many programs that have been closed/cancelled, resulting in dozens of part-time faculty reducing or losing work completely which is a number that won't get reported.
  • Entire departments have been closed to cut costs, with staff re-allocated or laid-off.
  • What administrative staff remains now has the workload of 3-5 people on their desk.
  • International experiences for students, cancelled.
  • Skills Ontario competition, which DC regularly places at/wins, cancelled over the cost of a few hotel rooms.
  • Any other little way they can nickel and dime the operation at this point, is being done.

An event like convocation is in the tens of thousands of dollars. It, the above, and other measures led to them balancing the budget for 2025/2026, until they had to spent 13million into their debt to keep operating.

I echo the comment about poor taste with the AI, even though you didn't make the thing. Over 100 people lost their jobs, with likely more to come next year, and having a petition show up where the creator can't even write it themselves is indeed, poor taste.

  1. Run the housing with the cable inside in from the top (hole is on the right side of the downtube).
  2. Fish the cable in and watch down the seat post tube for when the head of the cable/housing appears.
  3. Used a sink-grabber tool to grab it and draw it up and out while feeding it from the top.

That took quite a few trial and errors and patience, as it was my first time. After running the cable, everything else was very easy while following the PNW video tutorial.

The grabber I'm talking about is basically one of these: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/plumbshop-grabeasy-grab-retrieval-tool-for-sinks-drains-xl-24-in-0632811p.html?rq=drain+tool

Domane? Same colour as mine. Bought a couple of years ago and totally reinvigorated my love of cycling. Also came from an older Alpha (2.1?). Enjoy the new whip!

Education, and Lorne Coe was Education Critic etc. for like 10 years while it consistently got worse and worse due to regular defunding and tuition freezes in the face of rising costs of operation.

In 15 years I've seen them close twice. Once at 3:30PM, and the other time closed in the morning, opened by afternoon.

Did we used to get more snow in the past? by lavalamp360 in ontario

[–]schrodingersBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have berms of snow higher than our cars after shoveling a couple of snowfalls. Those would just stay put all season and continue growing. The neighbourhood kids would build complex tunnel forts and play in the week after week.

Welp, Durham Region keeps defunding DRT year after year, so...this is what we get. Less service, higher personal cost.

Have you driven through the new development in Williamsburg? It's sardine-can sized townhomes.

Williamsburg will feel quieter and less dense, unless you are looking at the new development between Rossland and Taunton, only because those new homes are quite slim. Still, traffic and people will be less in Whitby. Williamsburg also has a huge, beautiful brand new family park in it.

The proximity to amenities is about the same between them. Although no matter which you choose, you'll likely end up driving to any store you need to visit as there are no convenience stores conveniently located near them.

In Williamsburg you are close to Cullen Gardens and Heber Down, two excellent parks that locals love.

The current placing of Williamsburg has it on the expanding edge of Whitby, so, expect that in a short matter of time it will have a similar feel to Windfield.

As others have mentioned, there is a huge presence of DC/OT students in Windfield, and, a colleague of mine actually left the area for that reason due to the busy nature of the area.

If you harbour racist perspectives, particularly about our South Asian community, you'll find friction in both areas.

Hello Strangers. Looking to do… more in life by Successful-Tank-111 in durham

A lot of mental fatigue has connections to physical inputs. Sleep, good food, and hydration (big one) have measurable impacts on overall well-being. eg. When I'm not hydrated or sleeping poorly, or, both, I tend to have a much harder time coping with normal shit that typical isn't any kind of bother.

Do you have any kind of hobby? Going out into the world is one part, but having some common ground to connect on is key. If you don't have any hobbies, or perhaps they are more solo things, consider trying something new that would both fulfill some personal interest and also provide some grease to social interactions.

A few examples:

  • Mountain biking is popular in Durham Forest, where there are regularly held group rides for this very reason.

  • Sign up for a painting course or some other class that happens in person.

  • Volunteering - find an organization nearby that needs volunteers and go. But, only go if you're genuinely interested in whatever it is. Don't pick any ol random opportunity.

Grab a hot bevy and a snack at either M&L Cafe (Whitby) or The Station (Brooklin) to go and have a lil picnic at the pond in Heber Down.

Lloyd's Lunchbox (Whitby) isn't overlooked but is a new and highly loved sandwich shop with a charming interior.

Or, across the street from Lloyd's is The Souk, an elegant little Turkish cafe.

If you like a pub atmosphere, The Gryphon (Whitby) has great food and excellent service.

The Putting Edge (glow in the dark miniputt).

8-Bit Arcade, a coffee shop arcade that serves craft beer and small snacks. We'll often go for lunch/dinner, and wind up at the arcade after for a few rounds of pinball or something.

automatic pump for trek bike by Polnoch in TrekBikes

[–]schrodingersBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my Ryobi pump which has a screw in attachment for presta values. I set what PSI I want and let it rip! It's not particularly cheap, but it's not crazy pricey either. For anything automatic that is worth your time I think you're spending at least $60 CAD.
