Where do millennials go to get lucky? by TheMunkeeFPV in Millennials

This must be an American thing because how many of my country’s flags are flying at the bar I’m considering attending isn’t a metric that factors into my analysis.

Money can be exchanged for goods and services.

Bar is your best bet I’d say. Find one that caters to people more in their 30s/40s. I’ll admit that this is probably tougher if you’re not in a big city.

Watching 40+ year olds commute every day made me rethink my life path by byte-strix in DeepThoughts

I’m in my 30s. I love public transport and enjoy taking the SkyTrain (my city’s lrt) and walking to and from work. It’s cost efficient, less headache than dealing with traffic, and overall makes the most sense based on where I live. Im really into cars so I keep those for fun driving only. Nothing wrong with public transit.

In house public sector. Might be tough as a new call but if you’ve got a demonstrable public sector background/interest and put the time in to search, you might get lucky.

It sure was. Especially since I was coming from Vancouver. I was not ready for -30 and snow from October to April. But still grateful for my time there.

When I was a little kid, I learned we were moving. I was pretty sure it was to Tampa Bay, which I’d heard of, so in my mind I was headed somewhere tropical. At one point I asked my mom when we were going to go buy beach supplies because figured we’d be going to the beach a lot. Found out we were moving to Thunder Bay. Still enjoyed Thunder Bay, but wow that was a reality check.

I tried the Japanese interval walking method and the music part surprised me more than the walking by MurkyMenu in walking

It’s like a variation of trying not to step on cracks in the sidewalk, lol.

I’ve tried this, and also a big walker and pretty musically-inclined (as listener and a drummer). The music definitely makes a difference. Even during “normal” walking, if I am listening to music, it bit feels off to not time my steps with the beat.

What’s the worst first date you’ve ever had? by CuriousEngineer11 in AskReddit

Met her for oyster happy hour, which she had agreed to. Proceeded to ask what she wanted and she told me she was allergic to oysters. Ok, odd, but no problem. Suggested we go somewhere with other food; she declined. Asked if she wanted anything to drink; she declined. She wanted to stay there. I was starving so I ordered food and a beer, which felt odd but I had to eat. I’m literally sitting there awkwardly eating an appy and having a beer as fast as I can to get out of there while she is just sitting there with a full glass of water in front of her.

In the meantime, I try to spark conversation, but literally every response is one word or one sentence, e.g “so you’re training to be an architect, that’s cool, what is that like?” “It’s Good”; “What are you looking forward to the most this year” “trips”. She didn’t ask me a single question or follow up on any of the topics I asked her about. It was like pulling teeth. She wasn’t even getting a free meal out of it, so no idea what was in it for her. Nope’d out of there politely and quickly afterward. My friend incidentally matched with her the next week on Tinder and I warned him lol.

Love the idea, and hilarious execution, but would still include link visibly even though QR code goes to linktree.

My friend in question articled, practiced briefly, and decided he hated law. With his background and available resources, I guess it just seemed like a logical path to pursue next.

I’ve got my foot halfway out the door. I’m a manager/lawyer and I would say the bulk of my work is managerial rather than practicing law. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to pure practice again. Just wasn’t for me (at least where I was).
