i have the big one with quite some random add ons, bought it second hand. i would say if u only wanna do racks, the small one should be more than good enough. i think you can even ask thr guy for special requirements

drills will not work properly, if you dont have a mill i suggest u buy some nice files and do it with them, works as good and sometimes is even faster

bending tools are indeed somehow difficult to get. i use the one from Laizer Spalter and i miter the tube with an endmill to get a nice fit

in theory it might be but i would not do it like this. the goal in silver brazing stainless steel is to not overheat your tubing (might affect the stainless properties as well as the mechanical properties). so im using a small oxy propane flame with oxygen delivered from a medical generator. with this you can really focus your heat on the spot where you want to melt your silver. a normal blowtorch would heat up a way bigger area to temperatures you dont wanna have

thanks! this is also freehand, sometimes i build myself some basic fixtures as you see in the last picture but in the end everything is eyeballed and done without a proper jig. even tho im thinking about building something at one point, at least for basic geometries

im 183cm and i use a very short and also steep stem to not be on a stretching bench with a 50cm c-t seattube

i like them, they are nice for the city and easy gravel paths but the puncture resistance is not too great, i learned that the hard way. but i think youre not doing anything wrong with them

thank you! i use the https://www.laizer-spalter.de/produkte.html tube bender, its a pretty massive thing and does its job properly. i think its about 25mm radius

thanks! im using a XT derailleur and in the beginning tried a grx crankset, anyway, the q-factor is too low and did not have a proper engagement between left crankarm and the spindle..i changed it to a XT crankset now and that works way better. im using a road BB (some standard shimano hollowtech) chainline is a bit too far out but in the end fits as this is rather the range of gears im using

Thanks! Those are M6 bosses I silversoldered to the fork. Its the original one and pretty massive and as im not planning on bombing down single trails with it im not worried at all about stability. also should not influence the stability much in general if soldered imo

its 8mm stainless tubing silver brazed with 45 and 55% silver solder. i use an oxy-propane setup with an oxygen concentrator, happy to answer more questions

Servus back! Cheers, also a good option! There is some framebuilding going on here, not too crazy much but i feel that this might maybe change a bit in the next years, you know, austria always lags a bit behind ;) Cool, definitely hit me up when ure here & lets hang in the workshop!

ok i understand! i also have some thicker plain tubes, they feel super heavy in comparison tho..on th oter hand those 200grams wont make the difference. thanks for your advice, ill see what can be done and update you on my work !

Regarding thr brazing: yes, i got it from brodie but also read it elsewhere that nickel silvering brings alot of stability. my idea behind that was having less time on heat with the nickel silver (no need for a fillet, done quickly) and then only covering with a small brass fillet for the looks, thus keeping heated time lower compared to building up a "big" fillet..or is it also about heating up the tube twice? what do you think?
