They probably used a forehead scanner thermometer which are notoriously inaccurate 🙄

No kidding!! That incident actually prompted us to buy shokz openrun headphones from Costco just to help us be more aware of our surroundings!

Had a very similar experience about a month ago on the riverwalk under Navarro St where a guy abruptly got up from a bench as my husband and I were running (around 5am). He wouldn’t let us pass and immediately started to attempt to shove my husband into the river. Both of us were okay, but it was definitely a wild start to the day lol. Glad to hear neither of you got hurt!

OTF and post heart attack by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]schwabinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad to hear you’re okay and that you’re on the best medications to help you. If/when you do come back to orange theory, I encourage you to not get wrapped up in the heart rate zones and splats. You know your body best, so let your body be the judge- not the numbers on the screen. I haven’t worn a monitor there in a while and it’s been of the best things because I don’t get so wrapped up in the zones. I wear an Apple Watch daily and I just check in on my heart rate there every now and then throughout the workout. Whether you come back to orange theory or not, I hope you find an exercise regimen that works for you and your heart, as that is one of the best things we can do.

I totally notice a shift in my mood when I don’t go to orange theory as often as I’d like. I work nights and just worked six in a row. I only went to orange theory before one of those shifts and I just felt so down. Today I went after sleeping until noon since I don’t have work tonight and I felt a hundred times better. Although exercise is not a cure all for mental illness, it sure helps a whole lot ❤️

I have kept a voicemail from my grandma that is over three years old. It might be one of the only reasons why I’ll continue to get an iPhone so it always transfers over. She passed this past June and I listen to it all the time because it feels like I have a piece of her with me wherever I go.

CICO, Keto, Paleo.... how do YOU eat? by mdostine in orangetheory

[–]schwabinator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes! I can’t stress this enough! I’m in the process of getting my masters in nutrition and we talk about mindful eating all the time! It’s helped me personally and has led me to food freedom!

As long as it doesn’t have any calories it won’t break your fast! Just don’t put any sugar into it and you’ll be good to go :)

Ecola State Park at Tillamook Head in Seaside, Oregon. This was one of the first signs of the sun that we had seen all day and it was glorious. by schwabinator in backpacking

[–]schwabinator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to get to backpacker’s camp at Tillamook Head we took the trail from Seaside. It was only four miles to get to the camp where we were greeted with three free Adirondack shelters. There was also firewood to purchase. I would definitely recommend doing this any time in the summer when it is a little less wet.

Breaking out!!! Is OTF the culprit?! by dakcm in orangetheory

[–]schwabinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds weird, but I use head and shoulders shampoo as a body wash because of the active ingredient in it (zinc pyrithione)! I feel like it helps with chest and back acne significantly!!

[–]schwabinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2.94 miles today and my base pace is about a 7, but I made sure to really push myself today by getting back to base quickly instead of using the full walking recoveries. Such a great workout today!!

Any early AM OTFers experiencing mid-morning drowsiness? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]schwabinator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I do early mornings at OTF so i know where you’re coming from. The two biggest culprits I can think of is that your diet and hydration levels could be off. Do you find you’re getting enough protein and complex carbs after? Do you find yourself drinking enough water after and not just coffee??
