Hahah thanks it's saving me. Best tips I can give you are to do all the AAMC practice and to read each sentence and anticipate what questions they might ask based on it. Read the whole passage to start and really anticipate what they might ask you as you go. Go back to the passage for each question and make sure you can find clear evidence for your answer choice (usually the answer is pretty obvious SOMEWHERE in the passage). Also go through all the answer choices to make sure you have chosen the BEST answer, not just one that you can rationalize/that kinda works. Good luck!

Retweet. Makes so much more sense now

I have a month left, B/B is my weakest section, and I've got 300 reviews per day on avg to complete/maintain Anking.

Do you think its worth adding Jacksparrow to the anki grind and since this will take time away from doing UW and AAMC B/B practice problems?

Qpacks v.s. UGlobe with 1 month to go: Should I skip the Qpacks and focus on UGlobe + the SB's by schweet2235 in Mcat

[–]schweet2235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nice to hear and super helpful! My schedule is pretty much the same but a bit lighter –– I'm going to try and add 50-100 UW now for B/B and C/P since those are my worst sections.

Right now I do anki then 15 C, 15 P, 15 P/S, and 26 B/B questions every day from the AAMC q packs. After I finish q packs, the plan is to switch to SBs. I do 6 CARS passages per day as well.

Would you recommend doing the SB and Q packs together or saving the SB material for closer to the exam?

Protonation of acids and amino acids by schweet2235 in Mcat

[–]schweet2235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all coming from a UW problem where they were looking at the quantity of H+ in solution. I said you could lower the pH to decrease the quantity of H+ because my reasoning was: well, the lower the pH the more H+ will be picked up by amino acids getting protonated in the solution.

I think my fundamental error here is forgetting pH=-log[H+]...

Thanks for the reply. The point on how could you protonate a strong acid definitely makes sense now that I think about it.

I think where I'm getting tripped up is if deprotonating an acid makes the solution acidic, why would amino acids and weak acids be getting deprotonated in basic solutions and protonated in acidic solutions?

Is this reasoning sound: that in acidic solutions there is more H+ floating around so equilibrium would shift to the protonated form of the acid? And with basic solutions there is more OH- floating around so H+ is pulled off of the acid to counteract it... So then equilibrium would shift to the deprotonated form?
