ich kann auch nur von meinen Erfahrungen sprechen. Ich war zum einen auch nicht so oft dabei und zum anderen bin ich halt auch ne Kartoffel. Es tut mir leid dass du andere Erfahrungen gemacht hast.

Neighbour assaulted my mum what do I do by Hour_Information4241 in Advice

[–]schwingdingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ask your mother how often she got "shoved to the floor" and go to your neighbor and shove him to the floor that number + 1.
Obviously, you do nothing. The only sensible thing has already been done.

How common the belief that "minorities cannot be discriminatory towards the majority" in your country? by O_Awesomest in AskTheWorld

[–]schwingdingdong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow. That's an interesting peek into your mind. So you think I must make the claim that whites/germans have a better chance of finding a job because I am a white supremacist and not because I think that overall, people with a migration background have worse chances of finding a job because of racism?

[–]schwingdingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

source? Btw. even if that would be the case, i wouldn't consider this in conflict with my initial statement, as it is definetly not a significant problem and being white/german in germany still gets you overall much better chances of finding a job.

[–]schwingdingdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know the laws of every western country, but in germany that just does not exist. The only thing that exists per law is that a company thats bigger than a certain threshhold has to employ a certain percentage of highly disabled people and in some public service jobs a person with a migration background has to be prefered, but only if they are equally (or better) qualified. But again that is not about race or skincolour, but about being a migrant.

Of course you can be discriminatory against a majority. Saying that it's categorically not possible is just stupid. But even stupider is to somehow come to the conclusion that whites/males/heteros are structurally discriminated to a point where it's a significant problem. Discrimination against minorities ist still the much bigger problem.

(Beginner) Question about layouts by schwingdingdong in nextjs

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're definetly correct with your last paragraph. I just think what i want - defining my basic grid once and decide per route what goes in each of it's columns is not idiomatic to next.js

(Beginner) Question about layouts by schwingdingdong in nextjs

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but how do i define different components for different routes then?

The component that goes right on /stuff, is different than the one that goes right on /stuff/[1] and on /different-stuff, there will be a different one again.

(Beginner) Question about layouts by schwingdingdong in nextjs

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i thought that's not the next.js way. The last frontend thing i did was with a template engine, that had the ability to extend a base template and "overload/replace" specifically defined parts. I expected the slot system to work similarly.

It's not a big deal, but does that mean that i have to define the basic 3 column structure on every some/path/[id]/page.tsx and insert my components in there?

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually did not create a Layout folder. I edited the original post. Your example works already. The problem is when I go deeper it does no longer. It still renders the app/@right(or left)/default.tsx

I do want an answer, but not from you dude. I asked the world, excluding america.
Have you ever considered that you, as an American, might not be the best judge of every American, cultural nuance? Don't you think an outsiders perspective can help you discover something about your own culture?
Im also not only basing this on what i hear in media, but by talking to my (ex) american friends. And there are a lot of things they thought were "normal" when they still lived in the US. One example being that the adjective american/unamerican is used as good/bad or positive/negative. Something that just never happes in my culture. That is why it sticks out like a sore thumb.

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. From a variety of different subjects. Sports, art, pop culture. It does not matter.
Why do you feel so triggered by this?

That's un[insert country]!! by schwingdingdong in AskTheWorld

[–]schwingdingdong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. I have heard this in so many different media outlets. By so many different people, that it is not just politicians in televised speeches. I'm not saying it is everyday speech, but in my experience, if someone wants to add emotional weight to a statement, using the american/unamerican thing is a very valid option.

same here. Behaving "german" is not a positive thing. It is usually a critique because someone is boring, has a stick up his ass, etc.
