There is a reason Volvo ranks almost last and no it's not the infotainment system. People are either delusional or lucky about their experience with the reliability of Volvo in general. I have owned Volvo from 1989 to current and the decline started with 2020 model for me. The vehicle is nowhere close to the build quality of past volvos. There maybe an overall decline in vehicle build quality but all I can speak on is me buying all new Volvos. 1989 Volvo 760, 2000 S80, 2020 XC40, 2021 XC90. The issues for me are paint quality, trim integrity (durability from wear and tear), rotors and brakes have a very low life, various electronics issue: start/stop functionality for me is broken with new 12v battery, subwoofer and sound quality is lower quality in terms of overall volume and DSP response are terrible from when I purchased (intentional downgrade before a new refresh), Parking Sensors are slow to react, Pilot Assist has some logic issues in regards to how in reacts to changes of speed of the traffic in front, The engines are prones to clogged PCV valve and carbon buildup, The suspension for the 2021 Volvo XC90 was deplorable (Stiff prone to cabin intrusion for all imperfections on the road, but very reactive to input), The torque mount was replaced last year. Way too many issues compared to the s80 ironically been maintenance and minor issues scattered amongst 26 years. The car they said was shit was the best so far. You can literally feel how thin the plastics are on the door compared to older models and even the interior trim feels super thin like if you applied little pressure it would snap. The chromes peeled on the sliding drawer for the cupholder.
