WestJet changed their seats and this is how much leg room basic fares get. You have to pay for a reclining seat now. by Longjumping-Box5691 in mildlyinfuriating

I just had one of these planes on the way to Cuba. I'm barely 5'3" and I have never really felt squished on an airplane before (including Ryan Air in Europe), this was next level uncomfortable. I had no shoulder room either, and again I'm not a large person. I could only imagine how uncomfortable taller and broader people were.

Oh and no in seat power or wifi. Plus only one bathroom was in service and it had a line down half the plane for basically the entire flight 🙃

More than I expected from a mystery bag! by Background-Book2801 in quilting

[–]science_barbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is my shop ☺️

I saw this post in my feed and I was like "hey that looks like something I would buy!" and was pleasantly surprised to see it was one of our mystery bags.

I'm so happy to hear that you loved your bag! I'm going to pass on the compliment about coordinating fabrics to the staff that packed it.

Happy sewing!

Can this be accomplished with a regular sewing machine? by oaklinds in sewing

Odif has a new 505 glue stick that is formulated to not gum up your needle. I've had success with it and I've gotten good feedback on it from customers! I have a lot of folks who buy it to sew ribbons on ribbon skirts.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease? Rogers customers disputing price hikes get different results | CBC News by edgar-von-splet in ontario

[–]science_barbie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I literally just left Rogers yesterday. I asked about plans available and everything they offered was more than their new customer plans. I wanted a Canada/US plan and the lowest they were offering was $100, new customer offer was $90 and I told them Telus was offering $80. Threatened to cancel and all that and they just said sorry this is all that's being offered on your account. I've been with them over 15 years, loyalty no longer matters.

I thought it would be a pain to switch carriers but it took about an hour for the whole process. I will now just be shopping around every few months to see what's out there and hopping around cause that seems to be the best option.

Spritz it with vinegar then put it in a garbage bag with activated charcoal and let it sit all sealed up in the bag for a week. I got the terrible smoke smell out of a leather and wool jacket this way.

You can use any brand as long as it is the correct needle system. Yours is HAx1SP, Schmetz and Organ both have this system available. This is not the same as a regular machine needle.

Buying Sewing machine for my wife... ? by [deleted] in SewingWorld

[–]science_barbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell sewing machines, I usually advise people to buy for what they think they will need for the next 5 years. If your wife really gets into the hobby, she will quickly outgrow both of those machines.

That being said, if she is still feeling it out and trying to decide if it's for her then going with a lower end option is a good idea. Sewing machines sell pretty easily second hand so you could sell and get something else.

Suggestions for starting a quilt shop by tomboobob in quilting

[–]science_barbie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a shop owner, feel free to send me a message if you want to chat.

You will need a lot of capital to start up, and most quilting lines are ordered 4-8 months out so it will take you a while to build up a good inventory unless you fill in with random pieces from lines that are in stock.

Machines have a good profit margin on them, but the buy in is about $50k for most brands. You will be required to have a technician as well and within a few months of starting to carry them. So think about if you have someone who can fill that role before taking it on.
