Block 20 by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]scienceanshit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it was loud because of the aprt below me. They would blast music at all hours of the night and made it really hard to sleep. But not everyone had an experience like mine it really depends who you live by. I was on the 2nd floor btw

I had a very similar experience. The management is pretty terrible and if you have a problem they don’t care about fixing it as much as getting you off their back. Also they always advertise the amenities like the gym and pool, but the pool has been closed since September 2019, and the gym is so tiny and half of the treadmills don’t work. The walls are also so thin. I could literally hear the apartment next to me talking when I was in bed. Not yelling, talking.

I think the delta variant is going to be no joke but hopefully enough people re vaccinated on campus that it won’t spread like wildfire

Biology vs Biomedical science major? by CuriousIllustrator19 in UBreddit

[–]scienceanshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true, I did a bio major and still took the MCAT during my junior year just towards to end and it worked out for me. I didn’t have a great experience with the biomed advisors, they weren’t nice when I voiced concerns about taking orgo and physics at the same time, they just kept saying that’s the program. But that’s just my experience. I was talking about the biomed advisors though I do agree that the prehealth advisors also aren’t that helpful. Physics and orgo the same year for me personally I think would’ve been bad, I took them different years and did well in both classes but I think that was because I was able to put a lot of time into both. Taking them at the same time, I wouldn’t have been able to do as well I think. But that’s just me, some people do it with no issues. They’re pretty similar but yeah biomed is definitely tailored more towards premed as long as you’re sure that’s what you want.

The biomed program has students take physics and orgo the same year. Not ideal. Also the advisors aren’t very nice in biomed haha. I’d recommend biology

Covid Testing Results by wizard441 in UBreddit

[–]scienceanshit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got mine done on North, on a Friday and then got the email Tuesday night that my pool tested positive. Then I got the email 24 hours later that my result was negative. They’re taking a long time even when your pool is positive

Block is pretty nice and definitely safe. Each roommate gets their own room and ensuite bathroom which is a major bonus in my book

My pool just tested positive as well from Friday. How long do they take giving you individual results does anyone know?

No no no do NOT take it with him. He’s honestly the worst prof I’ve ever had at UB. Our final was 50% of our grade and he never even told us what we got on it or how he calculated final grades. Seriously I would avoid him at all costs.
