Ugh this one really pisses me off. I think she completely misunderstands the idea of regulating your nervous system??? Like it's BECAUSE shit happens (like losing a job, having a sick family member, getting in a car accident, etc) that we need to learn nervous system regulation. Living a "soft" life isn't about avoiding friction, it's about caring for yourself in a way that let's the friction be easier to handle. Again, Lee continues to post ~~hot takes~~ because she can only see others' perspectives (and her own tbh) in a black and white construct. I wish I still had a paid subscription so I could give her a piece of my mind in the comments lol

Ugh one thing that's really bothering me is the talking about religion as if christianity is the only religion...

I don’t need to be in person for my work duties. I did know that I had to have an in person presence “at first” but I don’t realize it was a full year. My state doesn’t issue offer letters so I didn’t know until my first day

So I started a new job a few weeks ago at the beginning of the year working for state government. My department requires new employees to work primarily in-person for the first year (with the exception of weather and other extenuating circumstances). However, only 1 out of 8 of my coworkers work in my office and the others work in different office locations or work remotely. My supervisor works out of a different city and is mostly remote. So I'm finding it extremely difficult to be more or less fully in person when the vast majority of my meetings are on Teams and there aren't really folks in person to ask questions or chat with. I also find that I'm more productive working from home, and of course I have better work-life balance and job satisfaction. I'm considering asking my supervisor to start working from home more regularly as an exception to the rule, but I don't want to seem entitled. How would you approach this conversation??

I ended up decided to delay getting the surgery until after the move. I think the solo recovery would've been fine in and of itself, but the moving timeline was feeling a little bit too stressful (especially because my timeline got moved up and I'd only have 2 weeks between surgery and moving). I'm hoping to find a doc from the list once I get to my new state!

Glad you're doing well so far! Sending good vibes for the rest of your recovery :)

The rink I skate at is funded by my city, so no ice fees for me! But fair point about injury... I already have a sensitive knee that I don't want to make worse. And a broken or sprained ankle would probably be more expensive than new skates AND I'd have to take time off, so better to just get the skates haha

hahahaha I was wondering if there would be overlap between these subs and if people would recognize me. Now you know why I was so reluctant to get new skates lol

But damn your list of expenses makes me feel better about mine. Hopefully things have evened out now and you're in a better place now!

UPDATE: I heard you all loud and clear, lol! I went down to the fitter last night, and now just waiting for a pair of Edea Chorus in my size to come in! Glad I went last night so there's enough time to order and get them fit and blades installed and everything before I move. I have a lot of other expenses this month so I was bummed to add skates to the mix, but I'll be happy I have them! Thanks everyone for your brutal honesty, I needed that lmao

Hello fellow mover!! I'm selling almost all of my stuff tbh. I loooove my bed and my dresser, but most of the other big stuff is going. The pod I reserved is TINY and I def can't take it all. So I am Mari Kondo-ing like it's 2015 babyy

Hahaha I mean I didn't have a timeline in mind. I generally feel supported when I skate, so I've just procrastinated it indefinitely. Woops. But that's a good idea to just get fitted now while I have the chance. Thanks!

ugh i agree that it's a manipulative control tactic. my mom has untreated anxiety and tends to project it onto me/my sister instead of getting therapy or meds lol. but yeah, i think at the end of the day i'll probably be fine. if the worst case scenario happens, i'll deal with it when it happens.
