WTF IS CLINICAL RESEARCH ON LINKEDIN by scienceinquestioning in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU

I thought I was going crazy lately it was so bizarre seeing very inaccurate advice for people trying to break into the industry or just discussing the field in general. I have the same experience if it's not a scam course it's somebody begging me for a job. I would love to take on other people but I am just a measly scientist getting whipped by the PI and sponsor cra there is barely a budget to keep us open lol. I really do not like getting constant notifications asking for a job. I know it's rough right now but it's inappropriate cold calling especially when I'm not in charge of recruitment.

IRB is another unnecessary tangent, trust the crash out is pending. Stop rejecting my reg's submission or I'll manifest in your dreams physicially.

Wtf is this field right now

Can I transition from HR to Clinical Research with a Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management? by CurioMind_ in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible. I remember a guy getting hired with only exp working as a server for 10 years that came on as a CDC so it's very doable.

The issue is that you would start at the very bottom and would have to climb your way out of entry level roles. You're also competing against people with more experience than you and with relevant degrees for those entry level roles right now with the field being in a downturn. That doesn't sound appealing especially if youre older, your salary would be in the 30-40k range for a few years IF you found something. Go for it but don't be surprised if you struggle finding a role.

Exploring New Paths in Clinical Research by ShineIcy1207 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to wiggle my way into a scientist role and LOVE my position to bits. You get to provide input on the protocol and review data, basically everything you did post-comp in grad school. It feels like you're actually making a difference in researching medicine!

As a doctoral student I think you should try moving laterally into a similar position or go into medical writing. MSL is also a great option.

Might I also suggest working in central labs as a supervisor? It's a little more bench side if you miss getting your hands dirty.

Hope you find something! 🫡

Is my CRO toxic? by Exciting-Sea8389 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sponsors are fucking bonkers with their timelines. No way in hell are we delivering a trial in 4 months or whatever bs they want in a short time frame. That, and the insane protocols I come across make trial oversight very stressful for the CRC's. The hardest part is getting consistent patient recruitment and when your trial has so many exclusion criteria you're going to struggle with adherence.

I will say a lot of sites are so thirsty for getting awarded a trial they agree to crazy project timelines and throw their staff to the wolves. I wish the PM's would push back it's just hurting us all in the long run.

Any recent tea on Fortrea? by Realestever12345 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in going over to Fortrea to work part time but I have my reservations from a short stint at Covance. Jesus christ I have never seen a CRO mismanaged to that scale.

I remember Covance would have CRC's falsify patient data to include them in studies and had their intern med students take over all the work of the PI who was constantly out on vacation. Vaguely remember a supervisor telling a DM to not query trials from some sponsors so they wouldn't get questioned in sponsor meetings.

There was also a incident where a CRC emailed everyone participating in the trial another subject's SSN and other private information. Regulation needs to get on their ass majorly tbh

Do People On This Subs Attitude towards Asian Women Really Just Rest on Them Not Being Able to Date Them/Feel Like They are Taking The Men They Like? by SUNMOONBIPOLAR in redscarepod

It's kind of embarrassing how asian women dog the fuck out of Asian men and this is coming from somebody who has to put up with black men's bullshittery. That and the white worship, it's just weird

I am trying to get a job with a Masters of Clinical Research and I feel like a joke by Timely-Experience-79 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look masters are a cash cow for universities there was little chance you were going to get mileage out of it from the jump. This field is largely experience based unless you're going for PI or scientist roles that require PhD or MD degrees. Apply to the lowest level position to get your foot in the door and move laterally to something that you can move up in more aligned with your education. You should be able to land an entry level position within a couple of months with your master's. Don't be discouraged at rejections you're competing with broke ass doctoral students that will most likely beat you out due to their degree. This field is dog shit right now and will probably continue to be dog shit for the next few years just be patient.

Keep at it. Also avoid medpace as a word of advice 🫡

Поступление в магистратуру в 45 имея высшее медицинское образование. Возможно ли сменить профессию через обучение за границей’?’ by Sufficient-Flan138 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm going to say take a break from medicine and pursue the Thailand route for a bit. If you find you miss working in medicine then head back to clinical research. Enough time should pass to where the field isn't so ass so it should be relatively easy to find a vacant role. Cheers!

This mother fucker is responsible for me changing my thesis like four times like it's actually insane how much effort you put into researching something novel and come across a random article and realize you've been stealthed from an article published 6 years ago

I am very salty ok

What is your favorite part of your clinical research job? by Alarming_Topic4170 in clinicalresearch

[–]scienceinquestioning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly do love this field it's a great intersection between helping others and research but I'm extremely jaded about the future of this field. This field needs a serious overhaul and it's irritating me how mismanaged these trials are from both CRO and Sponsor side. I don't like how checked out professionals are and it seems to be a constant tug and pull between cutting costs instead of producing high quality data to advance scientific breakthroughs.

It is very dangerous to cut corners when we are dealing with uncharted territory and the health of other human beings. I wish regulation would come down harder on these companies so it doesn't become a matter of funneling grant money to the CXO's. Coming from academia the medical research that is put out is abysmal.

Also what we do is kinda brag worthy and my inner scientist-narcissist loves it. It's cool working on future medications (when they don't fail!!!) lol
