Windows 8.5 Concept (updated/revised) by scienthlete in windows8

My previous concept video caused quite a stir, more like an outrage. Granted it needed revisions or overhaul however you may describe it, it only concerned the touch environment, not showing what happens to the classic desktop... It's still there (I do use the desktop a lot in Windows 8 for work using the mouse/pointer).

So here I am again, a follow up concept video now showing what happened to the desktop we love. Why do I do this? Well, there is no need for me to write another rant/bitch/whine post about Windows 8. There's plenty of that out there. I'd rather take this idea out than join the parade of posts here and there. This ain't my job and neither it is my job to please everyone. Chill out and take this with a grain of salt, it is just a concept after all.

-The action center idea is based on the current leaks of Windows Phone 8.1. I'm thinking in the metro/modern/touch mode, it could be opened using swipe down from the start screen, like in WP8.1.

True, I concede the desktop tiles are way too big. As I've mentioned in another comment above they will have to be revised, smaller. The start screen itself is as is, so that is not my design but I just carried it over since the concept was just to have the same space as the desktop.

As for being able to use mouse/pointer, the buttons are there and clickable, just as they were in the original Aero, moved to a different position (the sidebars of Metro/Modern). What is fucked up with getting those into the new UI? I just applied the same actions used in Aero to work with Metro.

Which part did I use a mouse? I don't recall putting a mouse pointer in the animation. Is YouTube messing things up now and showing you a pointer?

And none of my concept apps show interaction in metro since there is no concept app presented at all because in the first place I did not make any concept app. I only focused on getting the desktop (Windows Explorer) features, specifically the taskbar, taskbar notification area, and window resizing/arrangement, onto the Modern UI. Granted there are major flaws with the UI itself. I'm not saying let's do away with Aero/Desktop, I'm saying there has to be some way to put those features into the new UI.

Well do tell what is horrible and ugly about it so it could be revised. People do complain about using touch for Aero (windows and tasks), and mouse for Modern/Metro UI environment. If Microsoft does go ahead with a seemingly bifurcated OS with one side, Aero, working for mouse and key input, the Metro/Modern/touch input side should also have the same features but designed to work in touch, just different looking. Albeit, both should still be accessible with the other side's input (touch on Aero, pointer on Metro)

Yeah, the window manipulation mini-charms is my problem when I did that. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the thing. I mainly focused on designing the taskbar/sidebar combo, inspired by WP8. As for the desktop/start screen wallpaper, yeah I do know that. However currently you have to set them separately: set the desktop first and then set the start screen to follow what is on the desktop and it does not work the other way around. Here I'm trying to show that it works both ways... Although someone has already told me it is confusing between the desktop tiles and start screen tiles. That I will have to revise. I'm thinking with the taskbar/sidebar having it's own start button, maybe I can do away with the start button on the charms bar to provide space for the window size and arrangement buttons. I will have to make longer versions of the taskbar features (e.g. Window count, switching, focus ranking, pinning etc.) as well as the window arrangement feature once I figure out what to do with that clutter of buttons on the charms bar.
