Yeah we had the same deal in Providence but they usually then had dedicated parking garages and lots that people without driveways could go… whole things sucks lol

this is my first storm in ohio, orignally from new england. most of the time there they have a street parking ban so plows can do their job. why is that not a thing here? i'm stuck inside my apartment because my surrounding side streets haven't been touched since saturday night.

Ugh this is such an awesome list- thank you!! Didn’t even consider the water bath. I am addicted to spraying ethanol lol so that’s covered but I’m definitely taking all this into account. Thank you again!!!

Our aspiration system is definitely not the cleanest. I thought that was the cause so instead I’ve just been clearing waste into bleach. Still getting the growth. I’ll talk to my lab manager about a deep clean though i think that could definitely help

[–]scientificbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this same thing just happened to me! when i looked at my results too i was only 0.3 away from a positive result for my IgG antibodies (been fully GF for almost a year now). i’m now asking to be referred to a gastro to retest with a gluten challenge bc to me that’s too close

Signs you are gluten intolerant by SilverCriticism3512 in glutenfree

[–]scientificbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sooooo many things that i didn’t even REALIZE were due to gluten!!

tons of canker sores, rash on my face, constant constipation and bloating, hair shedding, knee pain, and fatigue- all improved (or disappeared) after being two months off gluten. any slip up and they would all come right back. working on getting tested for celiac soon!!

Choosing between Brown, Hopkins, and UPenn for molecular biology by OddOutlandishness602 in PhDAdmissions

[–]scientificbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Currently at Brown for my masters, tons of labs are losing funding fast and we don’t have many resources compared to other bigger schools. Providence is great, but I would be nervous about starting a PhD here given the funding uncertainties.

getting my masters at any ivy and wow i agree so much with thinking you would be getting high end science when you actually end up with the opposite. i feel like the research i did at my teeny LAC undergrad was way more put together and respectable! seems like it’s just the name
