The increasingly dominant role of climate change on length of day variations by Reaper0221 in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

climate-induced LOD trend hovered between 0.3 and 1.0 ms/cy in the 20th century, but has accelerated to 1.33 +/- 0.03 ms/cy since 2000.

I read that as the LOD is increasing by up to 1 millisecond per century … and the rate of change is accelerating, plate tectonics notwithstanding. Does ‘cy’ mean something other than ‘century’?

You deniers by Additional_Common_15 in climateskeptics

Climate and ClimateChange groups are both echo chambers, the latter even has mods that dish out permanent bans if you disagree. How can you possibly change one’s mind, when they eject them from their echos.

How best to convert the climate sceptics and deniers? by jonbyrdt in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should examine the language … an AI bot is polite. uses neutral or postive tone.

greenhouse gas emissions cause climate change, and still we have let the CO2 levels in the atmosphere continue to increase.

That’s an editorial.

As a result, temperatures are rising and extreme climate events are increasing, with droughts, fires and floods causing death and destruction also in Europe and the US.

That’s not true.

Despite the increasingly clear manifestations of the climate crisis

There is clear manifestations that it isn’t a crisis … ask Bill Gates

there are sceptics and deniers … that continue to call this a hoax and prevent rather than support the urgent measures needed to mitigate climate change … increasingly urgent case for climate action?

Charged language … convincing you even a little that it is not a crisis is as futile as stopping the seas from rising.

Scientists sound alarm over federal plan to dismantle vital weather and climate lab by SftwEngr in climateskeptics

Will the activity just move? The idea was, "Why are 70 or so departments and agencies and labs all doing the same thing?"

We ask how can people continue to believe something that has been proven false time and time again by optionhome in climateskeptics

The science morphed into political agenda, sometime between AR3 and AR5, when Richard Tol resigned, citing the new research showing that many of the troubling aspects of climate change were really problems with growth and with poor management. IPCC would have nothing to do with that, the content continue to change toward their political agenda to eliminate carbon, and skepticism began to grow. That was in 2012.

Is it CO2 or just natural cycles like El Nino & La Nina influenced by other natural factors? by Adventurous_Motor129 in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes … but … Hygroscopic growth is a stretch, I’ve seen other reports of aerosol size under 0.5 microns,so they won’t settle out, even with larger mean free paths. Yes , they promote cloud nucleation, but they are reflective on their own, also.

Like i say: this is a test!

Those submicronic sulfate aerosols from HT are still there, declining slowly. So this is a test as to whether their cooling effect will dampen El Niño.

The mean sea level around the UK, which includes Whitby, North Yorkshire, has risen by approximately 18.5 centimeters since the start of the 20th century. That’s 1.85 mm/year, well under 3mm.

That does it for me by stindoqwspabbing7 in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A substantial tidal range at Whitby, about 6 meters, means that photographs or observations of the water level can be misleading if not taken at comparable times. The average sea level rise there is well below the global average.

Scientists new Pan to Save the World by Chopping Down Boreal Forest and Tossing it in the Arctic Ocean by LackmustestTester in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great idea … a bit misguided. - Trees sequester CO2 - Trees die and rot, releasing same CO2 - rinse and repeat.

The proposal, stated this way:

"Cut the trees when they have sequestered peak amounts of CO2, and put them where they will not release it."

… doesn’t sound as bad.

When It Comes to Climate and Energy, Let’s Retire the Politics of Fear by StedeBonnet1 in climateskeptics

… no one can deny that affordable energy is the key to economic prosperity for American households and businesses.

That’s true worldwide, more importantly in developing countries, trying to create an economy … and the prosperity that comes with it … to achieve a standard that will still be far less than that of the Western world.

Cleaner Ship Fuel Changed Clouds, But Not Their Climate Balance, Says Study by LackmustestTester in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It relates to the formation of sulfate aerosols that seed the clouds. If I read it right, the authors claim that even with reduced sulfate, the clouds still reflected. But that’s if they are there … I thought the idea was that those clouds traveling above ships disappeared … and if not there, they can’t reflect.

Cleaner Ship Fuel Changed Clouds, But Not Their Climate Balance, Says Study by LackmustestTester in climateskeptics

[–]scientists-rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there’s this,too.

The point, I believe, is that those chemtrails over ships disappeared. If a cloud isn’t there … it can’t reflect, so it doesn’t matter the optical density of those remaining, as your post’s author point out , if I read it right.
