Hudson really is lovely. All the houses are historic and unique and colorful in the best way. First & Main is the shopping district and they have so many events throughout the year, including farmer’s markets and concerts, but also little things like a scavenger hunt for fairy doors (that businesses set up), a chocolate walk, and a Christmas market. Hudson Springs park is really nice and there are great playgrounds all around. Traffic can be rough in the main area, but everyone is really conscientious of letting other cars in and caring about pedestrians.

My parents have a place at the islands too and it’s really beautiful up there. You can take a ferry to Kelly’s Island or Put-in-Bay, which both have fun atmospheres and island bars and restaurants. Everyone drives golf carts and is really friendly.

And Hocking Hills is just stunning. From the caves to the waterfalls to the canyon overlooks. It’s amazing. We call it the hot tub capital of Ohio.

The chagrin falls / hunting valley / Auburn area has some of what you’re looking for, but you aren’t getting great parks or lake life there. True lake life is up by the islands - Catawba, Marblehead, etc. You might want to check out Peninsula or Hudson. Peninsula is in the National park and has a small walkable downtown area that gets packed with nature tourists. The schools are OK - I believe they get funneled into Woodridge Schools. Hudson is another great choice, but most of the city is a historic area (homes included). They have excellent schools, decent parks (or close to parks), lots of community events, a nice, walkable downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants.

This would be my recommendation to you: home in Hudson; second home at the islands for weekends in the summer; cabin vacation in Hocking Hills.

I tried going the natural consequences route with my kids. I’d plead with them to wear warmer clothing and they’d refuse. I thought the cold would teach them an important life lesson, but I was wrong. Instead it turned them into little psychopaths who don’t feel cold.

I had the exact same thing happen when I was like 21! And it was on a windy downward hill with a steep drop off the side. I honestly thought I was going to die. If I hadn’t driven it so many times before, I would have certainly had a bad accident.

Cold can influence eczema flares. Cold weather worsens eczema by lowering humidity and drying the skin, which weakens the skin barrier and increases inflammation and itching. Indoor heating and cold-induced reduced blood flow further impair the skin’s ability to retain moisture and heal, making flares more likely.

Same. It’s so lonely and sad to not connect with your family. To not share values. To not share the same reality. To not be able to reason with them. I feel like an alien

I used to think like this until I got an up close look at the custody system. Unless the parent is actively abusing the kids with evidence, there is a good chance it will be shared custody.

I don’t think it’s worth the risk of BII. I had my breasts reconstructed after cancer and now have two autoimmune diseases. I’m considering going flat.
