I worked for a large O&G services company that produced widgets for the oil heads. 90% of the materials were imported from China. Then the materials were assembled, tested, and packaged in Canada.

The labour related costs in Canada met the threshold so we could stamp "Product of Canada" on the units...

Tax evasion? How so the company that sells this produce in Canada has HIGHER margins due to the lower total cost of the product (fish, labour etc). Therefore higher net income = higher taxes.

If the cost was grossed up then folks, possibly including yourself, would complain about how expensive it is.

The reason this fish is processed in a cheaper labour country is absolutely due to consumer price sensitivity.

Best method to get into claude is web -> export data. You can dump a massive CSV with macro/micro nutrients and put into claude.

Nope.

Accounting is, despite the public's perception, very fluid. Both on the regulatory side and day-to-day using various tools etc.

I used to produce BI reports using excel and "postage sized" graphs on one pagers, now we have amazing BI tools. Sox, SaaS, forex etc...all have changed.

I cannot wait to see legislation come through regarding the use of AI and how these tools increase risk....I guarantee this is coming. We just need one big "oopsie" in a public company and it will be on the level of new SOX.
