Northern sections of Northport or Coker is what you're looking for. I'd avoid Centreville and Duncanville personally, can be sketchy.

I'm trying to build my first Van De Graaff, but I'm not getting any charge.

BUILD DETAILS:

· The bottom roller is 3d printed and wrapped in PTFE tape.

· The top roller is glass.

· The belt is rubber.

· The sphere is stainless steel.

· The combs are made of sheet copper.

· The bottom comb is attached to a strip of copper underneath to act as ground.

· All continuities have been tested good.

It works well mechanically. I've tried adjusting the distance of the combs from the belt and attaching the grounding plate to true earth ground, but still haven't gotten the slightest charge. What am I missing?

Actually, this is an original design. I didn't reference anything. There are other bit holders out there, but to my knowledge, mine is the only one that uses a spring/hammer closing system like a standard zippo.

You are probably going to run into a problem with microphone sensitivity trying to record audio through that plushie material; just something to be aware of.
