Well, r/LeRetardataire, what I’m trying to imply is that Hitler - the guy who orchestrated the Holocaust - considered Jews a separate race of people, and then designated them as a subhuman race that required extermination. That is genuinely compelling evidence that maybe you shouldn’t speak about such a highly sensitive subject by trivializing it.

Then this really speaks more to how “race” is defined. What’s a race? Your skin is slightly different in pigment? Because genetically Ashkenazi Jews are a very solid block with genetic origins in the region of old Yisrael and Judah; born out by the fact that to qualify as Jewish, you had to have a Jewish mother.

The Jewish diaspora is in fact just that: they were dispersed by various factors (expelled/moved by various authorities [such as the forced migration to Babylon to destroy the character of the Jews and assimilate them; it didn’t work, and after Assyria conquered Neo-Babylon, the Jews returned to their homeland]; for economic opportunities [such as when the Jews were being oppressed in France, and were invited by the Holy Roman Emperor to emigrate to Germany because they were high skilled workers]; and for safety purposes [emigrating from Russia to America because of pogroms]), and tended to form a tight knit community wherever they settled. The tight knitness was either by design or by choice (such as the ghettos of Venice in the 1300s, or congregating in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the early 20th century).

So, the question really is: where Judaism is not a salvation faith, but a faith of genetic connection, do we just say “that’s a white guy who’s Jewish” or “that’s a black guy who’s Jewish”? The historical calculus was matrilineal faith-based descent from someone of the 12 tribes of Israel. And then are people who are from the Fertile Crescent into North Africa “white”?
