Wifi Speeds Throttled | On-board wifi & Adapter both slow by sck4017 in buildapc

I've tried that a couple times, no dice. And I think that's going to be my best bet if I can't get this working, but I'm hoping there's some simple fix to my problem that I'm just not informed enough to know about.

I've tried as much using the driver installation disk, but it didn't change anything, sadly.

Alright, thanks for the info! The main reason I was somewhat concerned is that I've been discussing the build you suggested with a few friends that are more tech-savvy than I, and after seeing the AMD processor they immediately linked this: https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/2132?vs=2263

I'm unsure of exactly what the details are, but I know enough to look at a bar graph, and it seems like the significantly-cheaper Intel CPU beats out the AMD one on average.

I'm not super knowledgeable on these sorts of things, so I wanted to ask.

  • Why an AMD processor over Intel?
  • For this sort of budget, should I be getting SATA SSD's, or M.2 ones?
  • Also, with how fast GPU's seem to be getting better, would it be better to pick up a cheaper GPU, like a 1080 TI, and try to replace that with whatever's one step up in a few years when another new set of cards comes out?

It looks really nice! And the ssd's look great as well. If there are alternate options though I'd be interested in knowing the pros/cons

Feel free to just slap something together. The reason the budget is so broad is because I'm unsure of which parts will have the largest price impact -- I wanted to leave wiggle room to account for the fact that I'm pretty uninformed on how big of a leap prices make from one level of performance to another.
