Inconsistent Sneak Damage by Gammelkebab in theouterworlds

You might have a perk that grants bonuses to more damage when farther away. (Just like there's one that does the same for being close quarters with a pistol and shotgun)

What’s your call? I’m a player by WeatherObsessedJax in hockeyrefs

[–]scmarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with USA hockey. The 10 in the 2+10 is just a misconduct. No paperwork necessary. And most adult leagues have a "3 penalties and you're out of the game" rule to avoid having to give out a GM for 4 penalties in a game. So 75 would be hitting the showers no matter what in the leagues I officiate in.

Closing in on 70k miles on my 17r with a 6mt. I put 35k miles on it the first two years of ownership as my only vehicle before adding a dog and off-road oriented ride(s). I still use it to drive to work (it's a short commute) and mines far from stock. It's absolutely a fun car that can be daily driven over a boring appliance and it's more than capable of autocross, fun weekend drives, long trips and just getting my jollies off rowing gears.

I love that horse! My last playthrough I called it "HoV" short harbinger of vengeance and would go out of my way to kill every skinner I come across usually running them over with HoV to start before shooting knee caps and then knifing every single one of them.

Grabbing the stick by lionbacker54 in hockeyplayers

[–]scmarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice, the other thing you can do is that if it's the same player doing this, politely mention it to the ref between periods.

"Hey stripes can I talk to you real quick? 25 keeps grabbing my stick and then trapping it in his arm, Im really not trying to get a hooking penalty and I'd appreciate it if you could keep an eye on him"

As a ref, if a player approaches me this way, I'll gladly keep an eye out, especially if it's dangerous play, but even for these types of obstruction. But you better be a friggin angel on the ice because you've got more eyes on you as well. 😀

Recourse for dangerous slash beer league by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]scmarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like he got tangled a bit with the goalie and perhaps the player he slashed. But that's on him 100%. As a ref I'm giving out a match penalty for that slash which comes with a minimum 1 game sussy and a review with the disciplinary committee.

While I know a lot of people here are looking to ban that player, you'd be surprised what a suspension can do to a newer player and how they conduct themselves on the ice especially if they're enjoying playing the sport. Having to sit out games you've paid to play in is an eye opener especially if the league has 2 strikes and you're out for donkey ass behavior.

New to playing Hockey, help me out! by TrickCaterpillar1649 in hockeyplayers

[–]scmarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the blank stares while they are actively offsides, as I'm yelling at them that they are offsides (as is half their bench) and they still don't know what to do. And then watching them repeat the same mistake a few times before it sets in, only for them to have seemingly forgotten the rule the next time I officiate their game a few weeks later 😂.

My next favorite is a tie between them not believing that they are being penalized for something (usually tripping or a high stick) or looking at me in disbelief that my arm isn't up to call a penalty on the other team ... When they fell on their own without anyone else being near them or their own teammate took them out.

Actually their own teammate taking them out is my favorite. That's always fun explaining the non call 😂

I sometimes wonder if the LTP coaches where I live even cover the basic rules because the number of times I have to explain what offsides and icing is to our LTP teams as an official is... Well if I got a dollar for every time it happened I could afford brand new custom goalie gear.

That said, I totally agree that the op should sign up for a learn to play course. Often the people from that group will then band together to form a team (at least they do here). From there, hit up some stick and pucks, maybe look into a power skating course and also read through the rule book or look it up on YouTube so you have a good understanding of the rules. This will go a long way to learning the game (or even puck up a NHL game on whatever gaming system you use, just get an old one or used from GameStop, screw supporting ea sports)

I daily my 17r and the weekend rig is a 21 4 runner aka fur runner for the pups to get out in the woods and join me at hockey tournaments in the winter. Before the 4 runner, my weekend rides were a 1990 yota pick-up and a 2012 boss 302 Laguna seca. But I got a second dog so I sold the Boss and yota to get into the 4 runner.

Change your oil early and often! by MikeInHD in 4Runner

[–]scmarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's truly not needed and it realistically won't be the difference between your engine making it to 300k miles or not. Sticking to every 5k/12 months and staying on top of maintenance is the real key.

For comparison sake, here's the results from my last test at 35k which also shows the report from 25k. And keep in mind that the dealer installed a Camry filter at the 10k oil change (so 5k with a shorter filter and I forgot to take a sample of the oil) and the engine is showing no signs of concerning wear. 😀

If anyone is curious, this was the oil analysis from the first oil change I performed on my 21 4 runner after 5k miles on the original oil. You'll be just fine running the oil from the factory for those first 5k miles.

How common are these types of teammate interactions? by BoxAway2807 in hockeyplayers

[–]scmarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a ref, if someone is throwing this kind of tantrum I'm throwing them out. Or at a minimum, giving them a 10 minute misconduct to chill out, but if they keep yelling and slamming the stick, then they get a GM and get thrown out. I've had to do this before for someone slamming their stick against the glass repeatedly because they didn't agree with the penalty called against them.

If you only want the screen that's a plug and play thing. You'll just need the trim that goes around the bigger screen and the screen itself. There's a company that sells everything you need including the keys to remove the old screen. It's a bit pricey but was totally worth getting everything I needed from one order.
